In preparation for launch day, I will be counting down my top 7 tips for preparing for a #RADV audit. Starting with... 7. Prioritize and retrieve the best charts Subsection 422.310(e) requires #MedicareAdvantage Organizations and their providers and practitioners to submit a sample of medical records to validate risk adjustment data. While it might be tempting to retrieve every chart that contains information for the plan year being audited, there is value in retrieving high-priority charts first. Analyze claims data to identify where the HCC was initially generated from as well as looking for outliers, such as what HCCs were only billed once and locate those charts first. Inpatient hospital charts are also a great source to find HCCs that need to be submitted for validation. Additionally, keep on top of your chart retrieval efforts. Continuously monitor your captured and validated HCCs and compare to your chase list. Stop chasing records once your codes are validated, saving valuable time, money, and resources.
