SOUND CHECK Amplifying the patient voice As many organisations have cut their patient engagement leads this year, the job market has become flooded with people needing to find new jobs or adapt their skill sets to fit in with a new company infrastructure. This can mean that the debate for ‘most important skill set’ can get pretty loud and defensive. Conversations usually go through a battle of the skill-sets: what’s more important, advocacy, a business percipience, lived experience over clinical trial knowledge. It goes on. Where it ends is with consensus that the key objective of a practitioner is to make sure the patient voice is amplified in #clinicalresearch. Agreed. However amplification depends on knowing how to turn up the volume without drowning out all the aspects of drug development. It’s a Yin/Yang approach. Each skill set needs to have the opposite skill set to bounce off and enable specialisation. Patient engagement is a practice where like all great parties: the DJ knows how to work the mixing board and read the room to get the best overall effect — one where the room is energised, jumping and the participants all collectively raise their hands when *that tune* unifies in a collective experience. The role of the #PatientEngagementLead in an organisation is all about working the sound board skill set. Whether your background is science, advocacy, lived experience or something different … how you amplify the patient voice is down to your mixing skills — they’re all needed — and a patient engagement lead has to have that personal touch to make the music magical. That’s a skill set that is about the personal not the technical and some of the best #ChiefPatientOfficers out there mix the advocacy, lived experience and patient science of their teams that just make us dance with joy for the job that we do. New jobs will be secured. And we will all raise our hands when those leaders get to raise our collective standards again. Onward. #ISPEP #PatientEngagement #PatientScience #PatientOrganisations #PatientAdvocacy #PatientEmpowerment #PatientVoice #PatientEngagementProfessionals #PatientAffairs #PatientFocus #PatientCentricity #PatientInsights #PatientExperience #PatientFirst #UnmetPatientNeed #PRO #PFDD #clinicalresearch

🔍 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 🔍 As a Clinical research coordinator, I've encountered firsthand the challenges associated with patient recruitment in clinical trials. From limited patient awareness to stringent eligibility criteria, several factors often hinder the timely enrollment of participants. However, by identifying these challenges and implementing strategic solutions, we can overcome recruitment hurdles and drive successful trial outcomes. 🚩𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝟏.𝐋𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬: Many potential participants lack awareness of available clinical trials and their eligibility criteria. 𝟐.𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚: Overly restrictive criteria may limit the pool of eligible participants, prolonging recruitment timelines. 𝟑.𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬: Patients residing in remote or underserved areas may face challenges accessing trial sites, affecting recruitment rates. 𝟒. 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭: Concerns about safety, efficacy, and informed consent processes can contribute to patient reluctance to participate in clinical trials. 💡 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝟏.𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬: Implement targeted outreach campaigns leveraging various channels, including social media, patient advocacy groups, and community events, to raise awareness about clinical trials and educate potential participants. 𝟐. 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚: Collaborate with investigators to review and modify eligibility criteria, balancing patient safety with the need for broader participant inclusion. 𝟑.𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: Leverage telemedicine technologies to facilitate remote patient consultations and monitoring, minimizing geographical barriers and expanding the reach of clinical trials. 𝟒.𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Foster open and transparent communication with patients, addressing their concerns, providing comprehensive information about the trial, and ensuring informed consent processes are thorough and understandable. By proactively addressing these challenges and implementing innovative solutions, we can optimize patient recruitment processes, enhance trial efficiency, and ultimately accelerate the development of life-changing therapies. Let's continue to collaborate, innovate, and prioritize patient-centric approaches to advance clinical research and improve healthcare outcomes. #ClinicalTrials #PatientRecruitment #ClinicalResearch #HealthcareInnovation #ClinicalTrialManagement #PatientEngagement #HealthcareTechnology Nilesh Dhanak Clinical research coordinator rxdhanaknilesh@gmail.com

A #multidisciplinary team comprises professionals from different disciplines who come together to provide comprehensive care and support for #patients or clients. The #team works collaboratively, each member bringing their specialized skills and expertise to develop and implement coordinated services and care plans tailored to the individual’s unique needs. By terminology alone, it is common to equate multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams. Both bring together multiple disciplines, working together towards a common goal. Each employs expertise that is task-oriented and closely coordinated. But what is a multidisciplinary team? Click below and discover more. https://lnkd.in/gAbCCssZ
