A Potential Approach to be Accepted to Medical School for Students who Struggle in College General Chemistry If a student struggles in College General Chemistry with B or C Grades but does very well in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, I usually recommend that the student obtain an M.S. in Biochemistry. Typically, a first year Medical School student must pass two or three Biochemistry courses during his or her first year in Medical School.

Over 15 years, I have created short videos to support teaching in both undergraduate and graduate courses at SDU. These videos have proven valuable to students, allowing them to revisit mathematical derivations as needed, and beneficial to me as an instructor by freeing up more class time for problem-solving. I have now made these video sets publicly available on YouTube, organised into three playlists tailored to the specific courses I teach.. 1. Selected Topics in Physical Chemistry (KE508). The full course revolves around 6 laboratories (5 experimental, 1 computational) and the lectures cover content related to these laboratories as well as some other concepts related to the applications of physical chemistry principles in biological systems. The videos do not cover the entire course. The video content is mainly based on Physical Chemistry by Atkins with some sections based on Kurian's "The Molecules of Life" https://lnkd.in/ep9wv4Xu 2. Molecular Dynamics Simulations of Biomolecules (KE824). I use this video set in the course Biomolecular Simulations at SDU. Most material is from Molecular Modeling by Leach and from Allen & Tildesley https://lnkd.in/ep9wv4Xu 3. Physical Chemistry for the Life Sciences (BMB540). Videos from the course of "Physical Biochemistry" (BMB540) targeted towards Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine students at the University of Southern Denmark. Most of these videos were only used once. Later, we conducted the lectures in class. The playlist covers very basic physical chemistry concepts. For example, Maxwell's relations are not included. The textbooks referred to are Physical Chemistry for the Life Sciences by Atkins and "The Molecules of Life" by Kurian. https://lnkd.in/ek5TDTyF Faculty of Science, University of Southern Denmark Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy, University of Southern Denmark

Prof. Dudley Shallcross from the University of Bristol saw his chemistry kinetics workshops transform after introducing Smart Worksheets 🙌 Students in his module use Smart Worksheets to prepare for workshop sessions, with content and questions mirroring questions used in the workshops. With instant feedback allowing students to learn from their mistakes, they now come to workshops more prepared to discuss the content and ask higher-order questions. We talked to Prof. Shallcross about his use of Smart Worksheets and the impact they've had - read more → https://ow.ly/XaYg50TPF6T
