For the past few weeks I've had the pleasure of supporting about 20 AMAZING Corp Members in the Connecticut region of the 2024 class for Teach For America. While it got off to a bit of a rocket start, I must say that I have has an unforgettable experience with the next generation of teachers. TFA provides a great deal of detail to support DEI Facilitators. Much of the work I do from day to day is a matter of sticking to the script provided. However, in true Brianna fashion, I often find myself off script, gone rogue and traveled into an anecdote about my experience as an educator. Sometimes I share resource, but mostly provide encouragement and space for Corps Members to unpack their own consideration. 10 years in the education game and the most valuable lessons I've learned as it relates to teacher recruitment and retention are authenticity, transparency, and vulnerability. If you are a veteran teacher and you find yourself in the presence of someone bright eyed and bushy tailed, share how you've fallen short. Don't forget the words of encouragement you needed to hear when you started. Share resources, lessons, experiences. Be a shoulder. Be listener. Be a friend. Police officers have a brotherhood that is strong. No matter where you go as a cop, you know that other cops will take care of you. Firefighters work similarly. Nurses know that other nurses will have their back. Doctors work side by side to perform groundbreaking procedures. If teachers had the same support from other teachers, maybe we could convince the up coming generation that this work isn't all bad.

Everyday we hear the plight of schools struggling to retain and recruit great teachers, and great teachers exiting the profession. When will we sit up and take notice? At EdHunted, our plan is simple; 1. Make it easy for schools to approach and offer roles to great teachers. 2. Save schools significant amounts of time and money by streamlining the aging recruitment processes so deeply engrained in education. Redirecting the money and time back into the classroom. 3. Help schools cut their turnover of teachers.

By popular demand, here are my most commonly asked questions when parents first begin exploring boarding schools and residential treatment for their children. The placement process is so unique to each child’s needs and factors that are a mile long to list, but as generally as I could, I have opened the conversation for these justified concerns with a starting point. Comment your thoughts, and any further questions I can post about!

There is still a tremendous shortage of Philadelphia schoolteachers. A disproportionate amount of vacancies are within special education classrooms. "There have been more than 400 vacancies reported in each of the last two years, meaning that in any given year, thousands of students could face a revolving door of substitutes during crucial times in their development. And by far, the biggest shortage is among special education teachers. Of the 452 vacancies, about 150 were special ed. That’s one-third of the total."
