The New York Times says the hottest job 🔥 in America right now is Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer. What do you think? More than 120 new roles of Chief/Vice President of AI were filled in 2023 according to Glassdoor.  Here are my thoughts. 𝟭. 𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗜?  Yes! AI strategy requires a distinct approach, diverging from conventional IT. It's about creating systems that learn and adapt, while traditional IT is usually about achieving set tasks that improve organizational efficiency and reliability. 𝟮. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗼𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗔𝗜 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿?  Yes, but only if they are well-versed in both areas. Data and AI are inextricably tied together, but AI is not just about handling data; it's about building systems that can think, learn, and make decisions. 𝟯. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱?  Yes, but the CTO must trust the data and AI head to make relevant decisions. AI requires specialized experience on developing AI-specific infrastructures, like advanced computational resources and tailored data pipelines, and an understanding of AI's unique demands, from algorithmic bias mitigation to ethical AI implementation. 𝟰. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗔𝗜 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿?  The ability to work cross-functionally with the business teams. The Chief AI Officer must envision AI applications and effectively communicate their technical intricacies and business implications to stakeholders at all levels. What will be the one key skill we all will need to thrive in the age of AI? It's now seven years." 🌟 The Biggest Influence 🌟 Someone recently asked me, "What was the biggest influence in your professional life this past year?" If you’d asked me this a few years ago, I’d have named a book or a business guru who I faithfully followed. But not now. 🤔 After a moment of reflection, I jokingly said: “Aiden, my AI assistant”! While this was a tongue in cheek answer, there is truth in that statement.   🤖 I've invested time in training Aiden on my history, plans, pains, and successes. How/where Artificial Intelligence (AI) cannot replace business analyst 1. Contextual Understanding -Business analysts possess a deep understanding of the business domain, industry trends, and organizational goals, allowing them to interpret AI-generated insights within the appropriate context. 2. Critical Thinking - Business analysts can evaluate the relevance and reliability of AI-generated insights, questioning assumptions and exploring alternative perspectives. 3. Creativity - Human analysts can think creatively to solve complex problems and generate innovative solutions, which may not be fully within the capabilities of AI. 4. Communication and Stakeholder Management - Business analysts often need to communicate findings& recommendations to stakeholders effectively, considering organizational dynamics, politics, and human emotions areas where AI still struggles.
