To me, knowledge is more than book sense. Of all the degrees I have earned, going to school 5 years to become a journeyman plumber taught me the most about empathy, character and integrity. I've worked in the trenches.......I have worked to bring projects from the ground up, even during freezing temperatures (borrowing the tin knockers duct work to build enclosures to stay warm). I have carried cast iron on my back and watched ice floating in Lake Michigan while standing in the middle of a high rise with no walls. I have jumped in ditches trying to heat gaskets and rub duck butter on thick enough to push underground plumbing. Actually doing the job is different from giving advice on how to do the job by interpreting something that you have read. #Growth #DrPlumberGirl #Experience #ExecutiveLeadership

Attention job seekers! Are you considering a career in plumbing, pipefitting, or steamfitting? According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be an average of 42,600 job openings for these positions each year over the next decade. However, there's a catch - there simply aren't enough new plumbers to replace those heading into retirement. This shortage is due in part to the perception that these trades involve dirty work and long hours. Experts in the industry say that fixing this problem will take time, as it's a generational issue. So, if you're looking for a career with job security and growth potential, consider becoming a plumber or pipefitter. Don't let the misconceptions hold you back from a fulfilling and in-demand career.

Wonder what Plumbers do more specifically? Plumbers install, service, and maintain the waters needed in the State. They install the domestic drinking water systems vital for safe and clean drinking water. They install the piping systems that distribute waste and stormwater to proper treatment facilities to return it safely into the ground. Apprentices will acquire skills required to install, service and maintain many different types of piping – soldering, brazing, and welding to name a few. Knowledge of all the equipment and components the systems require to function correctly will also be acquired through training. All these are essential in protecting the nation’s health. “You want to be the richest person on the planet right now? In Austin? Be in construction. Be an electrician. Be a plumber. $200,000 — average income of a good electrician here in Austin.” Interesting points from Tim Kennedy, a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience! We’re in the midst of a craft labor shortage in the US, but according to the law of supply and demand, skilled electricians, Pipefitters, and other tradespeople are in high demand and can charge high ticket prices. If Kennedy is correct, anyone with a high school degree and the right training can earn the same six-figure incomes that are associated with graduate degrees in law and medicine. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for electricians is expected to increase by 7% by 2031, bringing the national average to 79,900 job openings each year. Bloomberg recently reported we will be 550,000 plumbers short by 2027. With that many unfilled skilled craft worker positions nationally, parents, please encourage your kids to consider the trades! https://lnkd.in/gQwvaRRD
