HOW WE HELPED YOUNG PEOPLE DISCOVER NEW TENNIS STARS: With the Australian Open only days away, Zara Seidler and I could not be prouder of our partnership with the epic team at the AO. The challenge: introduce a new generation of Australians (The Daily Aus is now reaching 1.5-2 million Australians under 35 every month!) to some of the next generation stars of tennis. The approach: if they know them, they'll want to go see them. 1. Produce six mini-documentaries on six of the rising stars, focusing as much as who they are off the court as their on-court potential. We know that young people are just as interested in the social causes, personal quirks and historic context surrounding our athletes, musicians and personalities as they are about their professional achievements. 2. Use TDA's innovative video carousel format to bring longer videos to social audiences, maintaining healthy watch times and keeping them focused (no small feat). 3. Take the message cross-platform - including TDA's newsletter, podcast, IG Story and online audiences. The results: six epic videos, viewed almost 1.3 million times collectively. Throw in all the other channels, and we will have delivered almost 6 million impressions. Have a watch of the videos here: https://lnkd.in/gRMEdH6t The production quality of these mini-docos is a new level for TDA - a huge congrats to Nick Arnold and our Head of Video, Joe Kiely, for these products, Tara O’Reilly and Sera Cadigan for crafting the partnership, and the AO team of Britt Wickes, Brie Stewart, Carla Alderuccio, Prue Ryan and Gus Carmichael.

When you think of iconic duos, 🎾 and 🏓 might not be the first pairing that comes to mind. But, in the world of sports facilities and revenue generation, they're proving to be a match made in heaven. While tennis has long been a staple in clubs, pickleball's recent surge in popularity has turned heads. But how can clubs capitalize on this without compromising their tennis facilities? The answer lies in optimizing space. Many tennis courts can be repurposed temporarily or marked concurrently for pickleball, allowing multiple games to take place in the same area. This means clubs don't have to build entirely new courts, but can rather adapt what they already have, leading to a cost-effective increase in revenue. Tennis tip: Lefties use the slider outside against the righy. One of the most effective strategies for a left-handed tennis player is to serve out wide to the backhand of a right-handed opponent on the ad side. This placement doesn't require excessive power; precision and placement are key. By targeting this spot, the lefty can exploit the natural angles of the court, forcing the right-handed player to hit a more awkward and often weaker return. This takes advantage of the fact that most right-handed players have a less dominant backhand, which can lead to a higher chance of unforced errors or a shorter, less aggressive return that the left-handed server can then capitalize on with a strong follow-up shot. Also, serving out wide to the backhand on the ad side opens up the court, giving the left-handed player a tactical advantage in the ensuing rally. By stretching the right-handed opponent wide, it not only disrupts their balance and positioning but also creates space on the court for the lefty to exploit with their next shot. - This strategic serve placement can be particularly effective in pressure situations, such as break points, where consistency and precision are paramount. - Mastering this serve location allows a left-handed player to control the point right from the serve, setting up a more favorable scenario for winning the rally. #tennis #tips #collegetennis #sportsbusiness #startup

Is this the beginning of front of shirt sponsorship in Tennis? Harriet Dart wins a final set tie-break to beat Katie Boulter this afternoon to reach the third round of Wimbledon. Despite the great tennis and unexpected result, I was ultimately distracted by the unusual and extremely prominent sponsor branding on Dart's chest. Now we're all very used to the tennis patches featured on sleeves over the years, but I think this is the first time I've seen such a large "front of shirt" presence in tennis, especially on the hallowed turf of Wimbledon. The WTA 2024 rulebook and patch rules state: Without Sleeves: (a) Front, Collar, Back Manufacturer or commercial identifications may be placed on the front, collar, and back as follows: (i) Four (4) manufacturer or commercial identifications, each not exceeding six (6) square inches (39 sq. cm), may be placed on the front or collar of the shirt, provided that no more than three (3) identifications may be placed on the front and no more than two (2)of the identifications on the front may be commercial identifications; So, with the assumption that Harriet's sponsorship with Vitamin Well Group works well within these WTA parameters, is this the moment when the flood gates open? Thoughts? https://lnkd.in/e628VGap Coming from a high school and collegiate club tennis experience, sometimes winning isn’t always winning. New formats of competitive tennis are beginning to appear through many third-party companies as a way to attract a new generation of viewers and participants. The USTA “Tennis On Campus” Circuit has allowed thousands of college students around the nation to enjoy the game socially and competitively, while not under the pressure of scholarship or loss. It follows the same rules as the World Team Tennis format, which brings professional players to new venues to entertain the masses. From a Private Club standpoint, I have witnessed many locations that shy away from the typical set play in exchange for more competitive game-style clinics and events, such as a 105 clinic or Dingles class. This transformation has increased participation in club events and received much positive feedback in terms of social connection. A reason I see for this is that it allows people to foster several relationships and camaraderie among different players over shorter periods of time, as opposed to just playing one set with one person over an hour. While many consider tennis an individual sport (aside from doubles), this new format, along with many other, allows a team of players to think of different combinations and match-ups to be concocted for the best odds of winning. In this instance, while Casper Ruud won his match, the game total was not enough for his team to win. Will these new team formats be the future of professional and recreational tennis? Share what you think about this new addition to the sport!

10moMy only involvement with Acorn has been through Fraud People have tried twice to move money from my bank account into a fraudulent Acorn account. first one year ago and now again. It seems that this is a common occurrence perhaps because Acorn makes it easy for them to try to pull cash from other people's bank accounts. in both cases, the issue was stopped by my bank. But what scares me is how easy it is for fraudsters to create accounts on Acorn and other financial institutions and how little the banks that have these fraudulent accounts do for them. In both cases, I did call Acorn and did get someone to help me. (This last time was much better that way) but they also told me that they would not do anything until my bank contacted them As they already had all the information that they needed to deal with the account waiting for my bank which might or might not do anything seems basically a waste and it does seem that my efforts to let them know this was happening seemed to be basically info they collect with nothing done And the financial fraud continues ( we pay for it with higher fees and nobody is doing anything about it
