He interviewed well and joined full of enthusiasm. He turned up on time on day one and was shown the internal systems. He liked his workstation and was given a laptop, phone, and business cards. His manager asked him to spend a few days learning the product online at his desk and to sit in the cars in the showroom. He was told to do HR forms, health and safety, and complete his FCA. Week one was great! His manager asked him to sit with an experienced colleague who would "show him the ropes." He fueled cars, worked the display, and helped with paperwork and handovers. He completed several manufacturers online sales courses. and after 3 weeks, wanted to "get stuck in and sell." He copied what he learned from the experienced sales executives but was struggling to replicate their process. He went to his manager for help, but he was too busy for one-on-one and referred him to another team member to shadow. He fueled cars and helped with the display and paperwork again. He felt deflated after month one. He tried talking to customers and was warned about "burning good opportunities and talking to other sales executives customers. He left at the end of Month 2. Here is my advice and tips on how to sell more products and services utilizing servant leadership: Serving people is indeed a fundamental principle in building successful relationships and businesses. When we prioritize the needs and interests of our clients, we create an environment of trust and genuine connection. Here are some key points to consider when serving others: 1. Focus on people's needs: Instead of solely focusing on selling a product or service, take the time to understand your potential client's needs and challenges. By actively listening and asking insightful questions, you can gain a deeper understanding of how you can best serve them. 2. Treat clients as guests: Just as you would welcome a guest into your home, treat your clients with warmth, respect, and hospitality. Make them feel comfortable and valued throughout the entire process. 3. Practice active listening: When engaging with clients, resist the urge to jump in with immediate responses. Instead, truly listen to what they have to say, allowing them to express their thoughts and concerns fully. This demonstrates that you genuinely care and are interested in their perspective. 4. Adapt to different personalities: Every individual has a unique personality, communication style, and preference. By identifying your client's personality type, you can tailor your communication approach to better connect with them. This shows that you value their individuality and are willing to adapt to their needs. 5. Embrace the platinum rule: While the golden rule encourages treating others as you would like to be treated, the platinum rule takes it a step further by treating others as they want to be treated. This requires understanding and adapting to the specific preferences and expectations of each individual. 6. Make a positive impact: Ultimately, the goal should be to make a positive impact on the lives of others. By focusing on serving and helping people, you can build long-lasting relationships and create a reputation for being a trusted and reliable resource. So, let's go out there and serve as many people as we can today, making a difference in their lives and building meaningful connections along the way. 🚨 In the Q&A of my latest webinar, a Sales Manager with decades of esperience in selling high-tech precision components for the Automotive and Defense industry, asked: "How do we reply to customer's question: - #How #much? - " This sales manager was not new to some of the persuasion techniques I describe in the program, but neverteless he found that the #crucial moment of the sales process was this final question. 🚨 How do you handle the "climax"? • Do you put forward a range? • Do you start with a high figure, ready to scale back? • Do you stick to a Price, ready to walk away if not accepted? The real point, on my opinion, is that forwarding a Price, a Range, an Ultimatum, #misses a key 🧩 element used by the Customer to evaluate an offer. The Science of #Persuasion tells us that we do not "measure" the value of things. We always "compare" that value with the easiest available #benchmark. Is up to us, Students of the Persuasion, provide that benchmark to the customer, instead to let the customer choose one. If you let the customer to choose his own benchmark, he will ask you a lower one: a #discount. ...sound familiar?
