With the federal election only a few short months away ACS’ election engagement is in full swing! With ACS hosting a opposition roundtable yesterday with CEO Josh Griggs. We were grateful to have again at our Sydney tech Hub, Shadow Minister for Home Affairs - Senator James Paterson, Senator Maria Kovacic and The Hon Natalie Ward MLC - Deputy Leader of the NSW opposition along with many special guests. The conversation was varied but included foreign affairs, cyber security, cost of living and the upcoming election. Josh spoke of the importance of our cyber security strategy and how our members can assist government on this important issue. ACS looks forward to hosting a number of these events leading up to the election due by May this year. #AusGov #Technology #AusElection #CyberSecurity #TechTalent #FutureofWork

The POLITICO article at link highlighting Presidential candidate positions on national cyber policy strangely fails to mention that only one candidate specifically includes in their national platform the following - “We must use all tools of National Power to protect our Nation's critical infrastructure and Industrial Base from malicious cyber actors. This will be a National Priority to both raise the Security Standards for our Critical Systems and Networks and defend them against bad actors." Our current lazy, ineffective policies for the cyber protection of essential services for our citizens have resulted in a wide range of Nation-State attacks to U.S. critical infrastructure. We are failing in this mission and cannot continue this risk. It’s time for new leadership with a national priority to actually implement effective programs to protect our homeland, as opposed to more conferences, studies and strategies. Just because the election is over doesn't mean the cyber threats targeting the election are done. The long road from election to inauguration is filled with opportunities for threat actors with a wide variety of agendas. States must still convene their electoral college, which will later be certified by Congress. We can expect our adversaries to target each event with the goal of spreading misinformation and distrust leading up to the Inauguration on January 20th, when the president-elect is sworn in. Follow DefendEdge, as we will be posting about the latest emerging threats and threat actors during this transition period. #DefendEdge #Election #Inaguration #CyberSecurity #CTI

Last week was a massive week for the Australian Cyber Network, in case you missed it we had our official launch announcement at Parliament House with the ACN team & Board Members, supported by Andrew Charlton, Special Envoy for Cyber Security and Digital Resilience, and LTGEN Michelle McGuiness, National Cyber Security Coordinator. Watch the full briefing at the link below on YouTube to hear from Dr Andrew Charlton, LTGEN Michelle MCGuinness and the ACN Co-Founders Linda Cavanagh & Jason Murrell. https://lnkd.in/gC9SprdW The importance of collaboration and partnership in addressing cyber security challenges was a clear theme, which is where ACN will step in to foster meaningful connections between industry, government and Australian businesses and communities. "Unlike many other national security challenges, this is not a challenge that government alone can deliver. We have to work in partnership with businesses and citizens.” Dr Andrew Charlton "This is not an area for competition. This is an area for collaboration because it really is about national security, national prosperity and stability." LTGEN Michelle McGuinness Interested in being part of the ACN community?
