According to the Institute of Student Employers Conference, early career hires are less career-ready than ever. 🤯 Solutions? a) Buddy/mentor schemes 🤝 b) Training for Gen Z in effective communications/culture and managers in generational differences ❤️ c) Use #skills assessments and verification to help new starters feel valued and connected to their team/organization. Whilst also placing them in their best role fit 🧠 🚀 NatWest's Dr Anna Koczwara summed it up perfectly, stating that we need to be empathetic as we help graduates move from the schoolroom to the boardroom or "from being right to being effective. They no longer need to provide an academic answer. Instead, we're now asking graduates to be pragmatic solution providers." 🙏 A key takeaway blog from the #ISE event - coming soon on the Spotted Zebra page! 👀 (Shoutout to Shraddha Gohel for being my selfie buddy 😉)

Well this is pretty cool 😮😅😁 When I was looking for a place to start my career, there was no question that CIBC was the right place for me. The opportunity to tackle important challenges facing the bank gave me the chance to learn and grow quickly during my co-op terms and in my first year full-time. For any students or other early-career professionals, I highly recommend applying to CIBC for your chance to be part of an organization invested in your success. #proudtobeCIBC #career #growth #learning #banking #Canadianbanking #strategy #financialservices #platformstrategy
I'm a problem-solver by nature. I thrive in experimental work environments. When I started working at CIBC full-time, I appreciated having the opportunity to tackle big challenges. In my first co-op term, I was assigned to run a pilot project for a new program. Even though I was young and inexperienced, CIBC put their trust in me, which helped me develop confidence. My team has been instrumental in this journey. My managers have helped me develop the right skills and introduced me to great opportunities. The co-op program has allowed me to explore my interests and improve my skills. No matter your skill set, there is a place for you to excel at CIBC. There are so many potential mentors. There's always someone happy to chat over coffee and learn more about you and your work. CIBC represents a place of growth, but also a place of achievement. #ProudToBeCIBC To learn about CIBC's student opportunities, including when and how to apply for your upcoming work term, visit https://bit.ly/3z4KvBz.

*Sharing some news* In 2022, upon joining Macquarie Bank as CDO, I vowed to maintain my connection with the community through LinkedIn—a pledge I believe I've upheld. Privately, I've lamented the dearth of bravery and courage on this platform, despite understanding the reasons behind it, which I don't necessarily condone. Today, I'm putting my words into action by openly sharing that I, along with a portion of my team, have been laid off from Macquarie. Facing this unfamiliar scenario has been a challenging life moment, and while I reserve my opinions on the decision's wisdom for another time, I want to emphasize to everyone in a similar position that your background, career stage, or circumstances leading to your current position (especially a difficult one) are inconsequential. What matters is how you respond, learn, and assist others as you move forward. It is indeed sad, but I think when you are hired, its for who you are, or promise to be, but in times of lay offs/redundancies, you are a number on an Excel sheet, and as a wise friend recently said to me, "Excel sheets do not have souls". Little did I anticipate when departing Telstra that my ventures with both Amazon and now Macquarie would abruptly conclude due to circumstances beyond my control. Yet, in hindsight, would I have made different decisions? No. Luck's pendulum swings both ways, and it's acceptable to find yourself on the less fortunate side occasionally, for we never bother to ask 'why me' when we get lucky. Professionally, I feel privileged to have gleaned invaluable knowledge during my 1.5 years at Macquarie, where I built the Research, Design, and CX capability for the bank. Beyond the projects and victories, my greatest contribution lies in the individuals we recruited, the mechanisms we built, and the culture we fostered. These capable leaders will continue to build upon the foundation I helped establish. To those from my team who were affected, I regret not being able to do more, but the fact that I selected most of you is the highest praise I can offer, and I have full confidence in your future success wherever it leads you. And thank you to all of those who stood by me; your messages of support have meant the world! As time allows for reflection, I will write a more detailed account of what transpired, and why, in some ways, my appointment and subsequent departure, is a story of one step forward and two backwards for Design. While I am enjoying a break after 20 years of full-time work, I am open to exploring opportunities in Research, Design, CX, and Digital Product realms, and welcome any connections. Lastly, I'm extending an invitation for conversations, speaking engagements, and consulting opportunities. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect or just chat via my calendar: https://lnkd.in/dmx5KgHe #cdo #layoffs #ithappens #itsnotyou #vulnerability #courage #design #ux #macquarie

Client-Centric Mindset: Understood clients’ unique needs and delivered tailored solutions. 2. Effective Communication: Navigate discussions across diverse teams to ensure smooth client onboarding. 3. Attention to Detail: Ensured precision in every activation step to build lasting trust and avoid any kind of tangible or intangible loss to the company. 4. Adaptability and Cross-training: Embraced agility in a fast-paced environment and kept me updated with different client enrichment processes 5. Data Insightfulness: Learnt to use data to enhance client journeys. 6. Team Collaboration: Witnessed firsthand the power of synergy within the team and how team bonding activities helped me get familiar to everyone. 7. Tech Savvy: Learnt the usage of platforms like Nexen, Baseline, and Host Explorer for efficient activation processes. Also, tools like Co-pilot and Advanced Excel brought in the efficiency and quality in the work performed. 8. This journey is just the beginning, and I am incredibly grateful to my mentors and team for guiding me through these pivotal months. Excited for the learning that lies ahead and to continue adding value to our clients! #ClientActivation #FirstCorporateRole #TheBankOfNewYork #LearningAndGrowth #BNY P.S.: Currently this is also the first time I am living alone in a new city, managing all my chores on my own along with a job. But this is a tale for the next post.
