ACADEMIC WRITTING REFLECTION On 25 December 2023, one of my course PPD1041 Softskills and Basic Volunteerism has given a task for academic writting. We have to follow the conference template to do our report. Then, we are asked to submit the report to Turnitin. The purpose is to let us how to use turnitin to check the percentage of similarity. From this task, I also learnt how to do a correct report and also how to use turnitin to check the similarity.

Assessment & Scholarship of Teaching & Learning Specialist | Volunteer Director of the World Language and Culture Program| ABE/ESL Adjunct Faculty
Day 1 of @SoTL Commons in Savannah, Georgia. We enjoyed the first set of workshops that were put together by the SoTL experts. The workshop on “SoTL in Promotion and Tenure Applications: Methods for Making the Case” was organized by @Trent Maurer and was truly inspiring. In our tables we discussed how SoTL-active faculty could “make the case” for the value of SoTL in their promotion and tenure applications and how those who mentor and support SoTL-active faculty (e.g., professional developers, senior faculty, administrators) could help them to make the case. Our facilitator discussed how those who review applications from SoTL-active faculty (e.g., review committees, administrators, external reviewers) could also help to provide a fair review. In this engaging workshop, @Trent shared strategies from the international SoTL literature and his own experience “as a tenured and multiply promoted SoTL scholar, review committee member, and external reviewer to make the case for the value of SoTL in major review applications.” By the end of the session it was great to make and draft the case for SoTL in promotion and tenure applications to develop and implement action plans. It was great to look at #uwyo criteria for the TMP and our strategic plan. #SoTL #teachingandlearning #scholars #qualityeducation #ectl

On 3rd January 2024, all PPD1041 Softskills & Basic Volunteerism classes held group activities through volunteerism at UNIMAS. For our group, we did garbage cleaning and recycling at level 2 and level 3, Faculty Economics and Business. We went to every lecturer's room to get recycling papers or things that they might want to throw away. It was quite challenging because some of the lecturers were not in their respective rooms. It is because some of the level 3 is for PPD lecturers, so some were with their respective classes. Not going to lie, it was also a good and fresh idea. This volunteerism educated me a lot which is on how to communicate with the lecturers, it is because I have not met some of the lecturers in FEB and also to communicate with some of FEB students as well.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak at the WHELF Community of Practice for HEA Fellowship, thanks to my colleague Jose Lopez Blanco. I shared my experience of getting accreditation alongside the PgDPPHE, and then spent some time writing for my SFHEA submission. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with others and sharing best practice, but most of all reflecting on my academic journey. I came across this (fairly dated) quote in one of my assessments; “Librarians are no longer keepers of information but teachers of information” (Albrecht and Baron, 2002:72). It has made me think about how I would define a HE Librarian in 2024? We are keepers of information, and teachers of information but also so much more. Our roles include information literacy, digital literacy, faculty collaboration, resource curation, policy development, web-design, collection development; we advocate, we adapt, we support, we assist, we research. We are a key component for academic success. Does anyone have any modern-day Librarian descriptions?

PPD1041 softskills and basic volunteerism REFLECTION 3: ACADEMIC SKILLS-LIBRARY SKILLS On December 6 2023, I was assigned by my lecturer, Madam Nor Hasniah binti Ibrahim to undertake the PeTARY (UNIMAS Library) Scavenger Hunt Assignment. The first thing that I do is photograph picture of myself in front of PeTARY. Following that, I asked the person who was in charge of the circulation desk to ask a few inquiries such as how many items an undergraduate students are able to borrow, the duration that an undergraduate student can check out an item, whether UNIMAS students can visit other Universities' libraries, and so on. After that, I was required to locate one book from one of the courses or classes that I am currently enrolled in, and I found a book that related to HRD. Aside from the book, I need to find a journal. Moreover, I need to use the PeTARY website resources to locate a scholar or peer-reviewed article about metacognition. It was challenging for me to complete the hunt because the day we were scheduled to do it was PeTARY Open Day, which was very crowded. So I decided to resume my hunt on December 8 2023. I assigned to take selfies of the best place for a students to study alone and for a group to study together or carry out discussion. I also photographed interesting things about PeTARY. When I accomplish this task, I have learn a lot things about PeTARY such as how to discover materials for my researches or assignments in the future. Lastly, I have learned to confront my anxiety because I do not like walking into the crowds while finishing this task when there are so many people in the PeTARY at that time.
