In line with the last month post regarding publishing the new guide for chemical sector. Now, we (Ricardo plc) with the support of the Chemical Industries Association, has published a new guide, ‘Establishing the environmental impact of chemical products’, to help chemical organizations advance their sustainability journey. This guidance will enable stakeholders to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of LCAs and the prominent role they have to play in driving sustainable innovation. Using #LCA to gain quantifiable insights on how produced products impact the environment from extraction through to disposal, enables organizations to measure, monitor and improve performance in key impact areas. Valmet’s Climate Program – Forward to a carbon neutral future – covers the entire value chain and includes four key targets for the supply chain, Valmet’s own operations, and the use of Valmet’s technologies by its customers for 2030. Regarding the use phase, one major milestone has already been achieved: Valmet now offers carbon-neutral production opportunities for its pulp, paper, board, and tissue customers, with the precondition that the customer has bioenergy or carbon-neutral electricity in use. 💡 Among the key innovations in reaching the final stage of this target was the development of a new heating concept for new and existing air dryers in paper and board coating machines: electrical heating is a CO2-free option for gas burners where functionality and drying conditions are as efficient as before. 🔌 When electric heating replaces a gas burner in an air dryer, and the process is optimized, it can lead to significant energy savings of around 10 percent, contributing to sustainability goals. 🌍 Read more about replacing gas with electricity in coating drying: https://lnkd.in/dmcVeHBK
