Business Strategist for Retired & Near Retired K-12 Administrators & Teachers | Retired School District Superintendent Turned K-12 Entrepreneurial CEO | #1 International Best Selling Author | Speaker
🎤 Lil’ Mermaid, Captain America, or Dora’s Grandma🎯 We struggle with realizing our specific identity or purpose. How do we decide which superpower should be our primary resource for the world? First, if you are making excuses (providing reasons) for where you are currently, 🛑. Those experiences increased your resilience and wisdom. See, it doesn’t matter what you have endured to get where you are today. Everyone has a purpose inside of us, and the world needs your brilliance‼️ 1. Get in a quiet place. 2. Listen to what your heart is saying. 3. Accept it. 4. Take action on what you should release into the world. I enjoy playing ‘dress up’ with my grandchildren; however, I will always return to my real superpower, advocating for high-quality education by addressing the K-12 staff shortage! It’s essential that all K12 leaders, including active and retired state leaders, superintendents, district leaders, principals, assistant principals, and teacher leaders, participate and contribute to bringing high-quality change that impacts environments for the adults working within the education system. If you are running a K-12 training business, your involvement is equally vital. Your active participation can make a real difference. We strongly urge you all to use your superpowers to reach the souls of our hard-working, intelligent, and gifted K12 staff members to discover and navigate their challenges without judgment. Happy Monday, 💕 Dr. B.

A.E Housman : The thoughts of others Were light & fleeting , Of livers’ meeting Or Luck or fame. Mine were of trouble, And mine were steady; So I was ready When trouble came Charlie Munger : The Highest form that civilization can Reach is a Seamless Web of Deserved Trust Epictetus taught that philosophy is a way of life and not simply a theoretical discipline. To Epictetus, all external events are beyond our control; he argues that we should accept whatever happens calmly and dispassionately. However, individuals are responsible for their own actions, which they can examine and control through rigorous self-discipline. The philosophy of Epictetus is intensely practical. He directs his students to focus attention on their opinions, anxieties, passions, and desires, so that "they may never fail to get what they desire, nor fall into what they avoid." True education lies in learning to distinguish what is our own from what does not belong to us, and in learning to correctly assent or dissent to external impressions. The purpose of his teaching was to make people free and happy.

Breaking News: Californians for Financial Education has collected more than enough signatures (880,000+) for an initiative that would guarantee all high schoolers benefit from a personal finance course. Thanks to State Controller Malia Cohen and educator Crystal Rigley Janis (Berkeley High School) for joining me in Sacramento. You make two solid points here, Michael, including (1) a Master’s degree itself is weakly correlated to #TeacherExcellence and (2) paying teachers more overall would widen and deepen the pool of talented candidates. If I were starting my physics teaching career today, rather than 30 years ago, I would be able to command a near 6-figure salary in select parts of the country and that figure will only increase in the near term. One key point to add here regards the leaders with whom teachers work. Teachers are attracted to schools with world-class leadership…instructionally, organizationally, developmentally, etc. Teachers leave education due to factors that #SchoolLeadership directly controls. If we increase #PrincipalExcellence we will do more to improve the teacher pipeline than exorbitant raises ever could. s4e.com
