Hydrophilic coatings are designed to attract and absorb water molecules. These coatings are engineered to minimise the friction between the medical device and soft tissues such as the vascular system. They achieve this by creating a thin, lubricious layer that facilitates the easy passage of the device within the body. Hydrophilic coatings excel in retaining fluids on surfaces, a crucial trait in medical applications to minimise friction. Used on devices like catheters and guidewires, these coatings ease insertion, reducing the risk of tissue damage and enhancing patient comfort. Our Assist™ Hydrophilic Coating provides a high-performance lubricious long-term application on devices to decrease frictional resistance, significantly reduce tissue damage and improve comfort when delivering or removing devices from the patient. DO YOU USE THIS? In some hospitals and institutions, staff still use ether for skin degreasing to improve dressing adhesion or to clean ultrasound gel. While effective, soaking gauze in ether to wipe the skin often results in a strong "whiff" of the ether! Do you also use ether in your practice? Whether yes or no, I'd love to hear your rationale and insights. Looking forward to your thoughts!

In the context of PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy, attention to safety for individuals with implants cannot be overstated. Those with battery-operated devices like pacemakers, or implants such as dental fixtures, mechanical heart valves, stents, or staples, need to proceed with caution. Potential risks include battery interference and nerve stimulation. Ensuring the safety and appropriateness of PEMF therapy in such cases necessitates a consultation with a healthcare professional. We've often been asked if we've conducted #clinicalstudies to prove that our wheelchair cushions prevent pressure sores 🤔 Let’s be honest, such a study is a significant and necessary endeavour, but it takes time, while the world keeps rushing forward. Fortunately, we have medicine on our side to understand what can prevent pressure sores or ulcers 👉🏼 two main factors: 1️⃣ No prolonged pressure on just one point or zone. 2️⃣ No humidity, as it can break down the outer layer of the skin (epidermis). And what are the main characteristics of our cushion? 1️⃣ It has better pressure distribution due to different density zones customized for a person’s body. 2️⃣ It has a net structure, making it 100% breathable. ➕ It doesn’t absorb any moisture, being fully washable. Beyond that, we’ll let you do the math 😉 and you can check out the link to an article on preventing pressure ulcers below ⬇ That being said, such studies are still very important to prove the theory as a trial with Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) we are currently involved in ✅ 📢 That is why we are very open to research, collaborations, and trials with universities and other centres conducting such studies 🙋🏽♀️🙋🏼♂️ Join us in pioneering advanced solutions for pressure sore prevention and collaborate with us to make a significant impact on #patientcare! #NeoFoam #HealthcareInnovation #PressureSores #ClinicalResearch #HealthCollaboration #MedTech #MedTechStartup #PressureUlcers #WoundCare #ClinicalTrials #MedicalResearch https://lnkd.in/dBJ2dCXk
