Safety Talk of the day: - LD 50 (Lethal/ Oral Dose) LD 50 stands for the lethal dose for 50 percent of the test population. The numbers are obtained by administering increasing concentrations of Chemical to test animals until a 50% kill rate is recorded/ noted. LD 50 figures are used to compare different substances to determine which substance is more toxic. Lower the value of LD50, higher is the toxicity. Higher the value of LD50, lower is the toxicity.
