Can you tell what these students are doing in this Teaching As A Profession class at Copper Hills High School? Yes, they are playing with paper airplanes and paper mache snowflakes. Students were tasked with picking a 5-minute lesson plan to prepare and teach to their peers. Kelly McPherson teaches the class and had this to say, “One of them taught everyone how to make a snowflake and the other taught how to make airplanes. We had everything from flower arranging, types of Scottish kilts, and trying to hold a pitch and harmonizing on a kazoo. The picture of everyone in crazy costumes is the day we were talking about employability skills and coming up with skits demonstrating good and bad ways to exemplify these skills. Teaching is fun! Learning about teaching is fun too!” #workbasedlearning #ctemonth2024 #EducatorsRising

JP Malone, 2027 Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas 🔳 PVC Frontside Hold- Hold spacing. Work through, Not around 🔳 Back Heel Connection- By forcing us into the heel, we are also helping to force a feeling to set into the back hip and ride. This drill can be done with a wedge, as well. But, I've grown to like doing it with the Balance pad due to it's ability to still let players rotate into their big toe somewhat during rotation while also forcing heel & ride during load. If they get to toes early, they'll definitely feel it with early force of ankle stabilization off the pad. 🧠 Holding Back Heel Connection to the ground is another way of attacking early front side fly out. If the back heel holds direction, it's much harder for the front side to fly. 🔳 Bounce Drill- Due to the ball's inconsistent hops and trajectory, we're developing the ability to stay in rhythm and be adjustable. 🔳 Off-Speed Machine Work- My goal with this was to create some type of slow, pitch bend to entice loss of front side or chest forward posture. Feeding the mistake. #hittinglesson #hittingcoach #battingpractice #highschoolbaseball #baseballrecruit #baseballrecruiting #uncommitted #hitting #hittinggoals #baseballvideos #baseballvibes #trainingbaseball

Has anyone else watched The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down? Who knew Seth Rogen was an avid potter?? Last year I signed up for a potter class with my nephew as a fun thing to do together and we both fell in love with the experience. The wheel was way harder than the instructor made it look - getting the clay centered is a skill in an of itself before even making anything. So, I have developed an appreciation for the art and the skill and eye that’s required to make amazing pieces. Watching the contestants move through the various challenges, navigating explosions in the kiln, cracks in their work, the overwhelm of the time crunches, and deciding which aspects of their vision for their pieces they’d need to ditch, was nail biting at times. I was in awe at how many of the flawed pieces were either repaired, or even deemed a winner. I’ve continued to attend classes, getting more confident on the wheel, and testing my sculpting skills – there’s so many things to be thinking about at the same time as I’m learning, sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever get better. But I’ve found that focusing on one skill each time when I’m on the wheel and building on that has made it less frustrating, and I’m getting better. How do you simplify things when you’re leaning into newness? What strategies do you have to reduce overwhelm as you flex a new muscle? Share it in the comments below. #BehaviorChange #Learning #SkillBuilding #LeadershipDevelopment
