In her recent Forbes article, Melody Brue, Moor Insights & Strategy, gives us the play-by-play. In recapping her MLB All-Star experience at @Globe Life Field, Melody writes: This year, T-Mobile added three high-speed cameras that captured the action at up to 4,500 frames per second, providing incredibly detailed slow-motion footage of the ball's impact on the bat as each slugger took his swings. The 5G network allowed for remote production, transmitting high-quality footage from the stadium directly to the studio without hard-wiring additional cameras. This enabled viewers to see every nuance of the swings in real-time. Interesting first look at the much anticipated Venu sports streaming service Accessing your favourite sports has been brutal for your average fan. Big gains for Venu if they can clean up that mess. Key takeaways: DVR and Multiview Options: Venu will allow subscribers to record individual games and offer a multiview feature to watch multiple games simultaneously. Content Offerings: The service plans to include a broad array of documentaries, sports talk shows, and a structured organisation of sports events into league-specific "hubs." Interface Details: The smart TV app includes various user interface elements such as a "For You" tab with recommended and must-watch events, a "My Library" section (coming soon), themed content rows, and direct access to TV networks like ESPN and Fox Sports. Integration with Traditional TV: The app includes an Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) for accessing linear live streams of the supporting networks. Notably, the EPG lists other non-sports content showing the integration with broader network programming. The launch is conditional on regulatory approval, and the service is facing a lawsuit from FuboTV, which claims that Venu's model is anticompetitive. The pricing strategy remains undecided, crucial for competing with traditional cable and other online TV services.
