In my consultancy work, I specialise in teaching, presenting and facilitation as well as providing operational analysis for healthcare services to obtain additional resourcing and funding.
My colleagues in the healthcare sector... Let's talk Syphilis .... Did you know.... 1. Syphilis diagnoses have TRIPLED over the last 10 years 2. There has been a SIX-FOLD INCREASE in the number of FEMALES diagnosed with syphilis over the same period. 3. There have been 69 cases of CONGENITAL syphilis in the past seven years, 18 of which resulted in the death of the infant. 4. Syphilis is EASILY treated with antibiotics. 5. With timely screening, syphilis can be cured, so even one case of congenital syphilis is completely AVOIDABLE and UNACCEPTABLE. See below where Professor Paul Kelly (Australia's Chief Medical Officer) and ASHM call on the health sector in recognising their pivotal role in staying informed and equipped with the necessary tools to effectively manage this infectious disease. For more information regarding the latest syphilis data refer to the Kirby Institute, UNSW Sydney 2023 Annual Surveillance Report (HIV, viral heptatitis and sexually transmissible infections in Australia) #stayinformed #betterpatientcare #improvedpatientoutcomes
Professor Paul Kelly, Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, has joined calls for the health sector to stay up to date with infectious syphilis, amid a significant rise in syphilis diagnoses in Australia. Syphilis remains a serious public health concern, and health professionals have a responsibility to stay informed and equipped with the necessary tools to effectively manage this infectious disease. ASHM’s online Decision Making in Syphilis tool is designed for healthcare practitioners, providing clear steps to assess and provide clinical care for syphilis cases. This invaluable resource offers guidance on various aspects of syphilis management, including screening, testing, and treatment protocols. By utilising this quick reference resource, primary care professionals can streamline their decision-making process, ensuring accurate and timely care for their patients. In a time when accurate and up-to-date information is critical, the Syphilis Decision Making tool serves as a reliable companion for primary care professionals. It equips them with the knowledge and guidance required to provide comprehensive care for individuals affected by syphilis. Today marks the launch of ‘Stoptober’ the Department of Health and Care’s annual stop smoking campaign, based on evidence that if a smoker makes it to 28 days smoke-free, they are five times more likely to quit for good. Since its launch 12 years ago, over 2.5 million people have quit smoking with Stoptober, and it is hoped that this number will continue to grow with this year’s campaign. NHS and Public Health Leaders from across Cheshire and Merseyside came together today at the All Together Smokefree Partnership Board meeting, to offer their support for the Stoptober campaign, and to launch a new regional programme, All Together Smokefree, with the bold ambition to end smoking everywhere, for everyone by 2030. With significant investment both regionally and nationally into tackling smoking, this is a key priority for the sub-region. The Cheshire and Merseyside Health Care Partnership and Directors of Public and Population Health have collaboratively agreed the All Together Smokefree vision and ambition and kickstarted a three-year programme to deliver a smokefree 2030.

Promote, Walk and Donate to Combat Stress Veterans Charity and Walk 4 Wards. Old enough to know better but daft enough to do it anyway..... Heritage Park, Pleasant Valley and Chilton Farm Park, Farnborough.
Step right up! It's the miracle cure we've all been waiting for. To quote the NHS: "It can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%. It's free, easy to take, has an immediate effect and you don't need a GP to get some. Its name? Exercise. Exercise is the miracle cure we've always had, but for too long we've neglected to take our recommended dose. Our health is now suffering as a consequence. This is no snake oil. Whatever your age, there's strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life. People who exercise regularly have a lower risk of developing many long-term (chronic) conditions, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, and some cancers. Research shows that physical activity can also boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress, clinical depression, dementia and Alzheimer's disease."
