🚀 Founders Peer Forums 🚀
One of the things I feel more lucky about becoming an entrepreneur is meeting such amazing talented people and being able to attend these Forums!
Why I like these forums so much:
✅ Inside Stories - We get to share what’s happening behind the scenes, from challenges to breakthroughs.
✅ Vulnerability - It’s a rare space where we can drop our guard, talk openly, and get support from people who understand the journey.
✅ Disconnect to Reconnect - Stepping away from the daily grind helps us refocus on what truly matters - both personally and professionally.
✅ Surviving the Journey - It’s not just about tactics and strategy; it’s about building resilience and realizing you're not alone.
✅ Deep Connections - My peers end up becoming excellent friends.
The real bonus is that we spent 24 hours together in one of the beautiful VIVLA houses in Menorca. Special thanks to Carlos Emilio Gómez for his generosity, and to Antonio Berga, Marc Fluvià Gracia and Antonio M. for making the time and inspiration!
Looking forward to our next forum

3 weeks into our 12th Antler Australia Residency! What have we been up to? A lot....
First, a quick snapshot of the cohort: From 2,100 applications, we selected 63 phenomenal founders to build their businesses with us. Of this group, 75% are former founders, 10% have raised VC money before, and 10% are exited founders. 🔥
Over the past few weeks, they’ve delved into:
- Masterclasses by Antler on Market Validation, Pitching & Communication, Unit Economics, to name a few
- Learning from our portfolio company founders on how they built their GTM strategy, MVP, and sold without a product
- Running (some countless) design sprints to ideate and pitch their ideas in front of the cohort and Antler team for feedback
- Heaps of networking, sparring, and learning from fellow founders in the cohort (the intellectual and network capital is honestly unmatched)
This cohort is on the move to build their VC-backed businesses over the next couple of months! 👏 Watch. this. space. 👏
Want to hang with these legends and the wider Antler community? Join us at a community mixer supported by our friends at AirwallexTaylor Fox-Smith in a couple of weeks in both Sydney and Melbourne! Link in comments 💥
Starting a business is hard. Starting one in a new country is even harder.
I’ve launched companies outside of Canada in the past and know the pain firsthand.
🤯Legal stuff gets super confusing very fast.
🤡 You get all sorts of random GTM advice that's *supposed* to work in that specific country from people who have never truly been there, done that.
😮💨 And all this, plus 200 other things you need to figure out as a newcomer founder, will affect your mental health.
So it could get lonely and stressful real quick!
If proactive and lucky enough, you will find your circle so you can be part of a tribe that helps you and you help them succeed. This is more than just helping you succeed in business; they help you be happy in the country you call home temporarily or permanently.
#Porch is that tribe you need if you are a new entrepreneur in Canada. And they are running an amazing event on May 22 to help with coaching on 4 really important areas:
– Small Business & Startup Law
– Mental Wellness & Mindfulness
– Pitching & Speaking
– GTM & Revenue
You might say you are not new to Canada, why are you joining? Well, Porch is not only for newcomers; it’s for professionals who like to network, meet other founders, and spend time with local experts.
👋🏼I will be there. Come and join us!

Was the Trip to Innovation City Cape Town Worth It?
Will I be able to escape the Founder's trap? 🎯
Myself and Daleen Vorster recently attended a community event at Innovation City, where Francois O'Kennedy BFP ACA CA(SA), and Ben Schoeman shared insights on "Escaping the Founders Trap: Strategies to Scale Your Business"
Here's what I learned:
Over-involvement: Founders often get too caught up in day-to-day tasks, which can withhold growth. It's crucial to step back and focus on strategic decisions.
Delegation is Key: Trusting others and empowering them to lead is essential for scaling a business. It’s not about losing control but about enabling growth.
Long-Term Vision: Prioritizing immediate results can be tempting, but sustainable success requires a focus on long-term goals.
Attending the event was incredibly valuable, offering actionable strategies and fresh perspectives on overcoming common entrepreneurial challenges.
It reinforced the importance of stepping out of the daily grind to focus on the bigger picture.
I also met Nicholas Thiede, the co-founder of ScaleUp Company South Africa, I always try to connect with like-minded people at these types of events.
