#Monday thoughts
Change and Chores: I have been reflecting over the past few weeks on change and it’s influence on our lives… appropriate given the start of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. Its impact can be wide with have intensity that can vary wildly just like the weather. Seasonal change requires some preparation and often a bit of hard work too. In this case, it’s Fall farm prep and a good 2nd cutting… cooler weather + some hard work = happy animals for the coming months. In business, seasons change too and this ushers in opportunities that would not be possible during the prior season. I find myself grateful for a life that isn’t static and that requires ongoing change - the challenge, the effort, the opportunity that help us become our best as we peruse our #purpose. I am finding it refreshing, just like the crisp autumn air.

#Why read this post?
Curiosity & “Why?” – The Question that Wears a Cape Are you Curious? Ever wanted to ask “Why?” but were too uncomfortable to do so? I am and I know I have! “Why?” is such a powerful response to what we hear and see in our daily lives, even if we never verbalize it. But we create so much more if we actually ask and frame it appropriately. Just a few examples: Wow, tell me more? That is interesting… why did you take that approach? Thanks for sharing that… would you do it like that again? The list goes on… Asking questions does the following: Creates a space for empathy. Opens areas for co-learning. Establishes credibility. Sets a platform for respect and relationship, regardless of if there is agreement. Give it a try... let “Why?” can become your superpower.

Weekend reflections:
Power in Patience: Good things take time and most great things take a lot more time - sometimes years. As an artisan, my wife recently completed a special piece for our home - a large dining table made with dead standing oak from our property. This involved sustainably felling, milling, kiln drying, shaping and finishing different components for more than a year. Hours, patience, blisters and band-aides were very much part of this journey. The result is not only stunning but very special - a reflection of us that we will appreciate for many years. In the similar way, you are unique, have talents and can also take time to reach your potential. Find your purpose, apply yourself and be patient. You can become more than you know and impact others in ways you cannot imagine. You got this!

A Coffee Tale, Part 2: Preface: We’re a quirky family, and we give honest feedback around here. Those attributes make for a ton of laughs around the Pangborn home… “How was the coffee, Dad? Not the best, I replied. Fairly weak and a bit bitter. What do you think may have caused that result?” The kids thought for a bit and collaborated on potential process issues afoul in thier berry-to-cup coffee production. They noted a few take-a-ways and started thier improvements immediately. It was a parallel to how our A-team rolls… we assess situations, leverage key processes, complete after-action reviews, and apply our learnings immediately. We are in a state of constant improvement. For some, this is a challenging place to exist, but we believe we were born to grow and we get energy from our refinement. It’s how we reach our apex personally and as a team. If you’d like to see how our approach and people can truly transform your Workday experience, DM Steve Campbell Trista J. Yerkich, CPP, PHR And yes, I’d try the coffee all over again. My kids are awesome too😎
