Proud and honored to announce that *in my personal (not FDA) capacity* I will be serving on the Advisory Council for the Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell. I hope to give as much as I gained from my time there during grad school. https://lnkd.in/eHyytNqT ==================== Reflecting on life-changing advice I received: 1. As an undergrad I went to pick up a graded exam from my physical chemistry prof. He picked up my exam from the pile, raised an eyebrow, and asked me to sit down, "Ever considered getting a PhD?" 2. One of the interviewers for an entry-level ChemE position politely ran me down in the hallway, "I don't think you will be happy in this job, or any entry-level job. Have you considered grad school?" 3. I asked my roommate, who had already applied to grad schools, what I needed to do, "Sign up for the GRE because you need to take it by the end of the week!" 4. I met my undergrad academic advisor for a perfunctory meeting. Instead, we had a long conversation about grad school, "You should meet this guy Matt DeLisa from Cornell. Real good guy." Moral: Offer and be open to advice—it can make a big difference.
This is really great to hear, Adam! Congratulations! Working with you directly for some years I am confident you'll bring a very forward-facing vision, creativity, and compassion to this board. Thank you for sharing the advice you've received that changed your life in public! I think so many of us performing at the level we did couldn't have had done it with someone altruistically advising us on considering something perhaps we wouldn't have even thought of, at least as expediently, on our own.
Congratulations, Adam! They made a great choice, and I sincerely endorse the moral of your reflection. I ended up at Cornell because of the openness of the late Professor Paul Steen to offer advice and to build relationships. Keep paying it forward!
Congratulations
Congratulations Adam! What a wonderful honor and opportunity. I am sure you will share and also learn a lot through this experience. Thanks for sharing your insights and life-changing advice to those contemplating what’s next! 👏👏👏
Congratulations, Adam! Cornell is lucky to have you
Congratulations!
