As the war goes on, the needs in Israel are growing each day. Here is what Jewish National Fund - USA is doing right now on the ground: >We have evacuated 15,545 people to date from the south and working on evacuating people from 28 communities in the north. >Working with 56,175 evacuees – children’s activities, providing clothing, food, essentials, funerals, shivas, brit milot, bar mitzvahs. >Helping care for over 60,000 people who could not evacuate from Sderot, Ofakim and other cities with babysitting, food, medication, and more >Sending care packages and food to 46,700 soldiers and reservists in the north and south. >Providing psychological treatment for civilians, including children, who have experienced this catastrophe firsthand, and so much more. JNF-USA has worked in close partnership with these communities suffering the most for decades, and is uniquely prepared to assist in meeting the emergency needs created by the current crisis. Yesterday over 200 of our most generous friends and supporters of Jewish National Fund - USA in Greater Washington and Baltimore came together at TWO different donor society appreciation events with keynote speaker, Ambassador Michael Oren. These events marked the end of our campaign cycle, a year we wish could have been different for Israel and the Jewish people. However, we are immensely grateful to so many who stood up with their voice and financial support at this historic moment when Israel needed us the most. Unfortunately this chapter in history is still being written as we continue to pray for peace, the return of the hostages, and a better year ahead.

This is agri-diplomacy. Today I met students at the Arava International Center for Agricultural Training (AICAT), a Jewish National Fund - USA funded partner in the Arava that is training 1,000 young adults each year from 14 countries (mostly from Asia and Africa). 200 of the students come from Indonesia where Israel has no diplomatic relations. They learn agricultural techniques for farming in harsh conditions (like the desert) and as well as business skills. They then return home to make a better life for themselves and their community…thanks to Israel.

35 wineries now exist in the Negev Desert! One of the only places in the world where wine is produced in an arid environment. This is what “making the desert bloom” is all about. Today I’m tasting some of that delicious wine in Mitzpe Ramon, an area that Jewish National Fund - USA is playing a key role in helping to grow the population and economy.

Honored to attend the ceremony on Sunday to open the new climate tech innovation center in Northern Israel. The new Center, located about 17 miles from the border with Lebanon, is a collaboration between the Israel Innovation Authority, Margalit Startup City, the JVP Foundation, the MIGAL Galilee Research Institute and Jewish National Fund - USA . Another strategic investment by JNF-USA to encourage population growth and innovation to flourish in the North. https://lnkd.in/e24r4SzY

Tonight I attended a special 9/11 commemoration at the only 9/11 memorial outside of the US that lists the names of everyone who perished in the terrorist attack. Any guesses where? Jerusalem, Israel. Built by Jewish National Fund-USA the memorial overlooks the hills of Jerusalem and is made out of some of the remains from the Twin Towers.
