Accounts Payable professionals I'm reaching out to people in AP & AR roles across the entire waste industry. I'm researching how waste brokerage companies are managing their AP process. If you're on the AR team at a hauler, I'd also love to hear from you! Looking to better understand criteria like: - days it takes a broker to fully audit all of the vendor invoices (many are over 20 days!) - how many invoices have to be manually downloaded? (surprisingly more than I figured) - how many invoices are still mailed and have to be scanned? (again...way more than I figured) - percentage of vendor invoices that have billing errors (my data says it's 18% or more) I'm also interested to learn about how easy or frustrating your process is, and where you think it could be made better. Would you be willing to chat with me?

some amazing information about AP ::- Accounts payable roles have evolved significantly over the past few decades: Accounts payable used to be a paper-based, back-office process focused on manual tasks like filing invoices and cutting checks. In the 1980s and 1990s, the rise of computers and business management software allowed accounts payable to become more centralized and integrated with other business processes. By the 2000s, accounts payable began lagging behind as many departments were slow to fully embrace automation and technology. In recent years, accounts payable has transformed into a more strategic, data-driven role. Key responsibilities now include: Data consolidation and analysis to uncover insights Automating invoice processing and payment to improve efficiency Serving as a strategic partner to the business, not just a back-office function The accounts payable role has evolved from a clerical, paper-based job to one requiring more specialized skills in areas like data, analytics, and process improvement. Accounts payable professionals are now valued for their ability to use technology to drive business impact, not just process invoices.
