Hudson Valley employers soared into Adams' Delaware Valley Job Corps Center for last month's Career Fair! Students met and presented resumes to representatives from 18 employers such as Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, New York State Unified Court System, Garnet Health, USIC, The Center for Discovery and Woodloch Resort. Culinary Arts students even wowed the crowd with a 6" sub. Prior to the event, students conducted peer-to-peer mock interviews and had their hair styled for the occasion. One student even came away with an offer for a position with the Center for Discovery! #jobcorps #careersbeginhere #workforcetraining #newyork

P. Brijlall ( WSIB ) ANTISEMITISM, HATRED, AND RASESS; After a workplace accident, WSIB put me through hell and made my injuries twice as worse permanently then robbed me of my benefits just because of the colour of my skin. #TBT Reminiscing about the time I ran a Supported Employment Program and decided to put on a Career Fair for clients. My motto has always been GO BIG OR GO HOME, so I pitched the idea to my CEO, and she supported it. After the hard work of myself and my team, we had over 25 employers participating. I opened the career fair up to all of San Antonio and promoted it through social media, radio, and news outlets. The event grew and I had 2 more Career Fairs helping hundreds of people. Making a difference in people's careers has always been a passion. You know what they say, "True to this, not new to this!" 😁 #ThrowbackThursday #Jobcoach #SupportedEmployment #careerdevelopment #JobSkills

In a few weeks, I'll be the keynote speaker at my high school's inaugural career fair event. In the 20 minutes between the end of the career fair and the start of a 3.5-day weekend, I'll be tasked with engaging 500 high schoolers on topics such as career readiness, taking responsibility for their education, getting involved, and life after high school. While I have a few themes in mind, I'm curious: if you could go back and offer advice to your 14-18-year-old self, what would it be?
