Tips for throwing an Ecofriendly Super Bowl party: 1) Shout out to New Belgium, which happens to be located here in Colorado. Not only do they have some cool beers (IPAs) their brewery is wind powered. 2) Consider some vegetarian (or local farm to table) recipes 3) Make a charitable donation- maybe a portion of the "Super Bowl squares" can go to an organization that's doing important work 4) Use "real" plates/ cutlery/ cups rather than paper products 5) Encourage guests to carpool (especially with a designated driver) 6) Don't waste leftovers/ recycle 7) Buy beverages in bulk (ie hit up Costco or Sam's Club)

A fair few people here have first hand experience of just how challenging it is to start your own business, it often takes every last ounce of your strength and resources. Combine that with creating a disruptive food brand that manufacturers in house from the start 🤯💰🤯💰💰🤯😱 We started small making 18 delicious Yorkies at at time. We now make 1000’s a day. So far we have managed this by investing all our savings, barely taking wage, instead using anything we make to re invest in the company. We do have a strategic plan for major expansion for which we will be seaking external investment but for now we have 3 big expenses that have all come in at once but need to happen asap to meet the ever increasing demand. If you could spare a few pounds or share, it will be greatly appreciated. Once we start making a profit we will donate the equivalent of all money raised to animal and climate charities, with a additional commitment to donate 2% of net profit to charity every Christmas. Keep our dreams alive and save our hands! 🌿💚🌿🌍🌿💚 (Or just have a giggle at how rubbish my face looks in the still, I swear Stevie Heath did it on purpose!)

'Shop, save and sustain' sustainability initiative raises money for local charities ⬇️ The innovative sustainability initiative 'Shop, save and sustain', organised by the University’s Catering and Hospitality team, has raised over £6,400 for local charities, including the York Food Bank, Kitchen for Everyone, and The Island, York. Shop, save and sustain is a food waste reduction scheme, launched in September 2021. Surplus food items that would normally be discarded at the end of the day are instead discounted. For every purchase made through this initiative, £1 is donated to food-based charities within York, making a significant impact on the lives of those in need. Each day, in the final 15 minutes before our cafés and restaurants close, unsold food is discounted by at least 50%. The food, including packaged sandwiches, desserts, drinks and hot food items, is still safe for consumption but would otherwise go to waste at the end of the day. Bridging the Gap in Retail Food Donations: How Nonprofits Like Fruitfull Inc. Can Make a Difference Key Takeaway: While many stores have routines for donating about-to-expire food, these efforts are often inconsistent, leading to significant food waste despite millions of Americans facing hunger. Some stores donate only seasonally or specific items like meat or produce, prioritizing other tasks over donations. This inconsistency increases the chance that perfectly good food ends up in landfills. With nearly 40% of food wasted along the supply chain, nonprofits like Fruitfull Inc. step in to bridge the gap, recovering surplus food and ensuring it reaches food banks and universities. By addressing logistical challenges and coordinating timely pickups, organizations like ours help create a more reliable and sustainable donation system, reducing waste and feeding those in need.

Georgia Main Food Group Limited is leading the charge in reducing food waste—and they’re doing it through action, not just donations. In partnership with the Immigrant Link (ILCS), Georgia Main staff recently spent a day volunteering to pack and distribute nutritious food hampers for families in need. This experience brought them face-to-face with the people and communities they’ve been supporting through their food recovery program. Since partnering with FoodMesh in 2020, Georgia Main has diverted 2.4 million kg of unsold food—equivalent to more than 4 million meals—to charitable organizations. Read all about it in our latest post on the Quirky Pear blog: https://lnkd.in/gg7QKks6 This is the kind of leadership we need to fight hunger and reduce environmental impact. By not only donating unsold food but also stepping onto the frontlines, Georgia Main is helping to build a stronger, more sustainable future for everyone. A huge thank you to ILCS for their tireless work, and to the Georgia Main team for going above and beyond! 💡 Is your business ready to take action against food waste and make a difference in your community?
