🚨 New study! 🚨 Today, EIT Urban Mobility, is launching a groundbreaking study on the “Costs and Benefits of the Mobility Transition in Europe”. This report dives into the transformation towards sustainable urban mobility across 12 European city prototypes, assessing three critical scenarios for reaching the Green Deal targets! Our goal is to continue supporting cities across Europe of all shape and size in their sustainable transition. Some of the key findings: 🌍 By 2030, mobility technology can reduce CO2 emissions by 21%, but we need strong public transport and shared mobility plans to hit the 55% target. 🚆 Public transport remains the most affordable solution, with ridership projected to rise by 7%, while private car trips could fall by 16%. 🚴 Walking and cycling could generate €1,170 in health savings per person by 2050. 🛑 Improved road safety measures could cut traffic fatalities by up to 70%. For more insights, check-out the full report: https://shorturl.at/5sZ8l and join us at Tomorrow.Mobility where we will host a round table on the topic with TRT TRASPORTI E TERRITORIO SRL .

Município de Braga has become the first Portuguese city to deploy Smart Loading or Commercial Zones in Portugal, as part of the EIT Urban Mobility City Challenge 2023. Parkunload has successfully launched the entire platform in Portuguese, deploying 27 Smart Loading Zones (64 parking spaces) in Braga's main commercial streets from November 2023 to April 2024, with a positive citizens engagement, and reasonable Big Data collection for city planners. From the urban mobility area of the city council, the project is lead by Filipa Corais and Sandra da Mouta Brito, and have collected, analysed, and efficiently managed the requirements of several stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, including the city's legal framework and communication plan, as well as needs from the parking authority (EUB) and municipal officers during the pilot stage. From the BGI - Sustainable Ventures, João Rabaçaça and Filipa Henriques, as well as Carolina Cominotti as Strategic Advisor Citizen Engagement of EIT Urban Mobility, have performed an expert work in the design, analysis, and collection of project KPIs and stakeholder feedback with relevant results for the city. From the institutional standpoint, we appreciate the project support from Ricardo Rio as City mayor, Olga Pereira as Councillor for urban mobility, and María Paula Caycedo Caycedo as Head of Innovation Hub South of the EIT Urban Mobility, as well as from Pedro Moreira during the official launching session of the project in November 2023. Special thanks to Natalia Gozdur as Innovation Project Manager of EIT Urban Mobility and Patrice M. as international project manager of Parkunload for a great project and operations management in the first Smart Loading Zones project in Portugal. The next step is continuing with project's operations and assisting the Município de Braga with Big Data collection and municipal parking regulations during this year, as the first Portuguese city enabling digital loading zones to accelerate the shift towards Sustainable City Logistics. We really appreciate this opportunity! #SustainableCityLogistics #SmartLoadingZone #DUM
