"Hey daddy, did you know...." is a phrase I hear 30x per day from my youngest daughter. So in keeping with E6's daily quiz questions, here are some facts for #ProstateCancerAwarenessMonth. Did you know that 1:8 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime? Did you know Prostate Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among men? Did you know that annual screening recommendations start at 40 if you: - Have a first-degree relative affected by Prostate Cancer (or) - Have at least 2 extended family members affected by Prostate Cancer Prostate Cancer affects millions of families each year, and early detection saves lives. 5 Year relative survival rates for localized and regional disease are ~100%. However, that number drops to <40% for metastatic disease. As a lesson from those men affected in my own family, annual screenings and patient advocacy increase O.S.
