𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐔𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐚 The era of relying on mirrors and windows to comprehend the driving environment is over. Today, camera-based technology assists the driver in reacting to his surroundings. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) use cameras and sensors to accurately detect and recognize other vehicles, pedestrians, traffic signs, and more. In this setting, our Ultrawide (HFOV 198”) standard camera model with fisheye effect is capable of enabling Surround View and Rear View applications, enhancing safety measures. Birdeye view with its 360-degree top-down view, Automated Parking Assist or even Automated Valet Parking can be implemented in vehicles with this camera. Executive Director | President | Professor | Advancing transportation through leadership, strategy, research, partnerships, mentorship, and innovation
Today we spent some time chatting with local reporters to help "get the word out" by demonstrating the AEB tech firsthand on the Virginia Smart Road advanced vehicle test facility. I hope you heard, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA released the final rule this week for Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), including pedestrians (pAEB). Although industry was voluntarily making good progress, this formal rule sets minimum performance criteria and a timeline to accelerate the proliferation of this life-saving technology to market. I believe AEB represents a paradigm shift. While we have widespread technologies that help drivers stay in control (antilock brakes, stability control, etc.) during an evasive maneuver, AEB represents the first mandated safety technology which actively partners with the human on the driving task to specifically avoid crashes. If the driver is not braking sufficiently to avoid hitting an object, such as a lead vehicle or human, the car will apply maximum braking in the last second(s) possible to avoid the crash (or at least significantly reduce the severity). Lives will be saved, and we are just scratching the surface of the potential for active collision avoidance systems. A huge shout-out to the talented team at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute who have helped lay the foundation of this Advanced Driver Assistance System for decades – identifying the opportunity, researching prototypes, evaluating effectives, and improving system performance. Saving lives is “why we do what we do”. This is a moment we rest well knowing our work, along with the work of our partners and our industry at large, will save human lives at scale.

Safety is in our DNA. Truly safe driving on a daily basis requires the vehicle to predict potential dangers and immediately notify the driver. Our UD Quon features safety systems that are based on advanced technology including Traffic Eye braking and Driver Alert. The Traffic Eye Brake uses both millimeter-wave radar and a camera to monitor conditions in front of the truck, notifying the driver with a warning indicator and alarm if there is a potential collision ahead. If the vehicle reaches a distance where collision is possible, the brakes are applied quickly to reduce any damage due to collision. https://lnkd.in/dGrBr-w2 #UDTrucks #UDQuon #trucksafety

With all the headlines blaming Professional Drivers for careless and dangerous driving, please watch this video clip - its the vehicle design to blame - The Blind Spots - A-Pillars, Mirrors and Vehicle Bodies, drivers don't have the ability to see through solid objects, Did you know that truck & bus drivers are required to have an Uninterrupted horizontal visual field of at least 160 degrees with an extension of at least 70 degrees left and right and 30 degrees up and down. At least 51,300 pedestrians and 19,450 cyclists were killed on EU roads between 2010 and 2018 Cyclist deaths in the EU are declining eight times more slowly than deaths of motor vehicle occupants The urgent need for collision prevention and life saving sensor technology is the reason I developed Viz-Ovalz® Blind Spot Sensor Information System / Moving Off Information System to correct the vehicle design fault, thats the major factor in "Failed to See" Blind Spot collisions. Our adjustable retrofittable Visual Warning System corrects the vehicle design fault - The Restricted Field of View, expanding drivers peripheral vision to eliminate the Blind Spots caused by the Pillars, Mirrors, and Vehicle Bodies. The VINFAST #VF8 offers cutting-edge safety features designed to ensure a confident and secure driving experience. One standout feature is Lane Keeping Assist, which actively monitors the vehicle’s position within its lane and gently steers it back on course if it detects any unintentional drifting. This helps reduce the risk of accidents caused by momentary lapses in attention or drowsiness. Complementing this is the collision warning with radar, a high-tech system that uses advanced radar sensors to detect vehicles or obstacles ahead. If a potential collision is detected, the system alerts the driver with audible and visual warnings, giving them valuable time to react and avoid danger. Together, these features create a safer driving environment, enhancing both convenience and peace of mind for #VF8 owners. With these technologies, VinFast ensures that safety remains at the forefront of every journey. #mabuteam #automotivephotography #dronesphotography

Commissioner of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles | Transformational Leader | Bringing years of experience in elevating performance, enhancing CX, and driving strategic growth
Tragically, 907 deaths occurred on Virginia’s roadways last year. In an effort to help save lives, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in partnership with the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute are working to make vehicles safer by introducing a new mandate that will require all new vehicles 10,000 lbs. or less to have sensors that detect when it needs to brake on its own. This is the new NHTSA AEB/PAEB law I posted about earlier. The research is a focused effort to help protect people, especially on major interstates where we see a high number of crashes. This mandate is not only for vehicle crashes, but also for pedestrian safety; 148 pedestrians died walking or cycling on Virginia roadways last year. Auto manufacturers will have until 2029 to become compliant. Innovations like this could make a huge impact on the safety of our roadways. 4moThe question is how ordinary camera sensors are affected by light changes. Most drivers expect today’s active safety systems can handle these situations properly. Does this assumption is wrong?
