In 2023 my team and I were tasked with rebranding the broadcast of the Riot Games, League Championship Series (LCS). A rebrand is no joke requiring hundreds of hours of work to solve countless design problems so that the end product feels like it just came together easily and works with a number of different variables. When doing a rebrand for a broadcast product like this you have to consider all the possibilities and combinations of needs including team colors, photography, title design, motion design, etc. The goal is creating a package that always feels cohesive but has endless possibilities. I believe this package achieved the goals and it has the possibility to change over time while still fundamentally being familiar to this new look of the LCS. The graphics contained in this reel take you through a condensed broadcast cycle and are just some of the ones that I personally worked on but the broadcast contains thousands of graphics and social, features, print, and web content is thousands more. Interesting take from Endeavor's Mark Shapiro today on IMG Arena's positioning in the betting data and video rights space: "We don’t play at tier-one, trojan horse money-losing properties. Often it's a rights fee-fest to try to get sports data from some of these major leagues, and frankly the margins are too tight, there’s too much risk, and we can’t make money. "We play in the tier-two, tier-three properties and package it with our media division at IMG where we can get all kinds of efficiencies and synergies to make these profitable and strong margins. Squid Game: The Trials is in the world—the most ambitious immersive build we've worked on yet, triple heart eye emoji.
