The Price of Pop Fandom Pitchfork dropped a great piece on the price of pop fandom highlighting the rising costs around ticket prices. It’s not just pop. Ticket prices are up across genres and the issue isn’t just ticketing fees. It’s a combination of - Growing demand for tickets - Exclusive venue contracts for specific ticket providers - Reduced spending power in some genres of musics - Getting tickets into the hands of real fans and not scalpers and bots The easiest solution is a mixture of staggering presale ticket sales, allowing more artists/labels to sell tickets directly, and giving verified fans (e.g. through platforms like thefunction.xyz) priority access to tickets. *Link to article in comments* —- #ticketing #musicindustry #fanengagement #musictech

I have recently been working with an organization called Women Who Rock™ to conduct a brand valuation. The power of associating live music to a sponsor brand can raise brand value exponentially. In some cases a factor of 9x to revenue generated or money invested. Who doesn’t want a 9x ROMI? This is especially true when the missions align across the event and the partners. In the case of #womenwhorock who uses live music events to increase visibility of women musicians and to raise awareness and money for women’s health research initiatives at Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation .
