It's been about three weeks since the Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) delivered the Gender and Inclusion Summit, and I can't help but reflect on Day 1 through the eyes of an organiser. Walking into the venue, greeted by over a thousand eager participants, Kayode Okikiolu's rich baritone welcomed us all, setting the stage for the day. As I scanned the room, I caught glimpses of card exchanges, photo moments, smiles from partners, and the excited buzz of attendees deeply engaged in conversations. Old friends were reunited, and new connections were being made.
The exhibition stands, filled with powerful displays on gender and poverty reduction, stood out—each booth vibrant, telling impactful stories of organizations committed to real change.
In the midst of it all, I was brought back to reality by Osasuyi Dirisu, PhD, the visionary behind this summit, walking gracefully through the room, gesturing to me to get something done. I saw each of my colleagues holding their corners, and in that moment, I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for being part of this incredible journey.
The Summit truly brought Helen Keller’s statement to life for me: "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."
