Just returned from a couple of Remote Projects road trips, ensuring our quality canvas goods are in the right hands as we gear up for Father's Day. It’s been a while since I’ve connected with both new and existing retail partners in person - travelling from Bangalow to Noosa, and Bangalow to Jervis Bay. It's always interesting having conversations with seasoned retailers who’ve been in the game for over 20 years. One shared that they recently had their first-ever sale in two decades of business. Surprisingly, customers hardly blinked—sales have become the norm lately. While the overall sentiment was positive, there’s a sense of cautious optimism. Some stores are thriving, while others are still navigating the lingering effects of COVID and inflation compounded by challenges like fires, landslides, and a dip in visitor numbers. Driving through the Clarence Valley, I was reminded of the resilience of nature. The once-scorched forests from the 2019 bushfires, which devastated homes and wildlife, are now rejuvenated, with wattles in full bloom. It’s a fitting metaphor for the retail landscape—stores, customers, and brands come and go, but from the rubble, new and exciting opportunities emerge.
