There is a link between the world's greatest team-building events and internal theft.
I was recently asked if I miss running the SpyMasters corporate events that ran for several years up to 2008.
And we all know what happened then!
My response was a very easy, YES.
To watch teams of people who prior to being picked for the event may not even have spoken to each other, working together and feeling energised in a way they’ve never experienced before was hugely satisfying for me.
As a way of bringing people together and helping them connect with their colleagues and the company overall, it was undeniably, hugely effective.
And when teams feel this way about each other, and about the way the company values them, they are (in general) a lot less likely to take the risk of doing something they shouldn’t.
Internal theft is one of the biggest contributors to overall loss in the luxury goods sector with an average level usually sitting at around 2%.
Now put a 0. In front of that 2, and you get what Vigilo achieves when we manage the security.
On millions of pounds worth of turnover, 1.8% is a significant difference.
Are you doing enough to ensure your teams are connected and empowered?
The recent Batavia Downs evacuation underscores the necessity of robust security measures. Elmore's prior conviction in 2016 for burglary raises concerns about the screening process. Implementing tools like Biometrica's UMbRA enables real-time criminal background checks, providing crucial information for risk assessment. Had the hotel/casino utilized such solutions, they might have been aware of Elmore's criminal history, potentially preventing the incident.
This highlights the urgency for establishments to adopt advanced technologies for comprehensive security protocols.

Armed Robbery in the Workplace
An armed robbery is sometimes referred to a heist or hold up.
Amed Robbery is the act of robbing someone or a place while armed with a weapon. Robbery can cost the organisation injury to employees & customers, damage to property, theft, financial loss, loss of life, psychological trauma & bad publicity
In most cases armed robbers targets in the workplace include cash registers, cash rooms & cash deposit runs & other valuables
Predictability of Armed Robbers
Armed robbers are very unpredictable. Although robbers may have differing skill levels but all of them have a common intention - to commit an armed robbery. Usually they will first survey the business operations for police or security presence before they quickly enter the business area, make a confrontation, grab the money & flee
Vulnerability to Armed Robbery
Business entities should determined their vulnerability to robbery & train their employees to safety evacuation protocols. The security officer must be knowledgeable of the most latest trends in a heist including the premise's high risk areas. An effective security plan must be designed & implemented to ward off armed robbery in the workplace
Danger Minimising Techniques
When the organisation is subject to a hold up, employees can help to protect themselves while gathering information that will greatly assist police. They must act methodically & calmly by following these basis rules;
- Do not be heroic
-Stay calm
-Obey the offender's instructions
-be deliberate in your actions if instructed by the robbers
-use non-threatening behavior & avoid eye contact
-observe the offender as much as possible
-stay out of danger if you are not directly involved
-know your escape routes & emergency exits
🚨 Scams are on the rise 🚨

Many individuals who unknowingly hired these deceptive service providers reported substandard work, exorbitant pricing, and unethical business practices from these deceptive companies.
We urge you to be vigilant and take precautions when hiring chimney sweep services:

Staying Calm and Thinking Ahead: Dealing with Robbery Attacks
In the face of a robbery attack, it's natural for panic and fear to overcome us. However, maintaining a calm mindset and thinking about the next course of action can significantly increase our chances of staying safe and minimizing potential harm. By preparing ourselves mentally and understanding how to respond, we can navigate through such situations with greater resilience and presence of mind. I want to explore the importance of staying calm and thinking ahead during a robbery attack.
Take a deep breath and stay calm:
The first step in dealing with any crisis, including a robbery attack, is to take a deep breath and compose yourself. Panicking or losing control of your emotions can hinder your ability to think clearly and make rational decisions. By staying calm, you can maintain focus and respond more effectively to the situation at hand.
Prioritize personal safety:
Your safety should always be your top priority during a robbery attack. Remember that material possessions can be replaced, but your well-being cannot. Avoid any confrontations or heroics that could escalate the situation. Instead, comply with the robber's demands and cooperate fully. By putting personal safety first, you increase the likelihood of avoiding physical harm.
Observe and gather information:
While complying with the robber's demands, try to gather as much information as possible about the perpetrator(s) and the surroundings. Take mental notes of physical characteristics, clothing, or any other distinguishing features. This information can be crucial in helping law enforcement apprehend the criminals.
Maintain situational awareness:
Even in the midst of a robbery, it's essential to maintain situational awareness. Be aware of your surroundings and observe any potential escape routes or opportunities to seek help. Stay attuned to the movements and actions of the robber(s) while remaining as inconspicuous as possible. This awareness can help you make informed decisions when the time is right.
Stay compliant until the situation is safe:
Resist the urge to take action until it is safe to do so. Attempting to intervene during a robbery can escalate the violence and put yourself and others at greater risk. Cooperate fully with the robber's instructions until they leave the scene or until you receive instructions from law enforcement.
Contact the authorities:
Once you are out of immediate danger, contact the authorities and provide them with all the information you have gathered. Describe the events accurately, including the physical appearance of the robber(s) and any other relevant details.
Experiencing a robbery attack is undoubtedly a traumatic event, but by staying calm and thinking ahead, you can enhance your chances of staying safe. Remember to prioritize personal safety above all else, gather information discreetly, and maintain situational awareness.
