I would like to extend my sincere thanks to IVPN-Network, FZ, LLE for organizing this invaluable educational event on COPD. The insights shared were truly impactful, and I greatly appreciate the dedication of the speakers for delivering such comprehensive and informative presentations. Take-home messages: -- COPD exacerbations can have a long-term impact on patients' health and well-being, beyond the lungs, and significantly increase the risk of cardiovascular complications and premature death. -- Proactive management to prevent COPD exacerbations and reduce the risk of premature death should be key priorities for clinicians. -- According to the ETHOS and KRONOS studies, triple therapy with Budesonide/Glycopyrrolate/Formoterol led to significantly reduced use of rescue medication, improved FEV1, and reduced the rate of moderate or severe exacerbations. -- COPD patients with raised eosinophil counts not on ICS were at higher risk of exacerbation. -- The DECAF score is effective and feasible in predicting mortality and early discharge in patients hospitalized with AECOPD.
