Olympics Last year’s women’s euros saw a consumer spend of £761.2m so you can be sure every brand will be fighting for attention. How can you stand out without running through cash quicker than Tony Stark? - Partner with other brands/retailers on cross-promotional campaigns. For example, a snack brand partners with a beer brand to offer a combo deal ahead of England’s 5pm kick-off against Denmark. - Introduce limited edition event-themed packaging. Heineken executed this excellently at Euro 2021 with a different nation’s flag on each bottle which left shoppers scrambling to get England bottles. - Offer special promotions and discounts on products during the tournament period. Collaborating with retailers’ loyalty schemes will get your offer in the best store locations. - Launch engaging online campaigns centred around the event, such as contests, giveaways, and challenges. Encourage contestants to share the campaign on social media to receive a special offer. - Introduce limited edition flavours inspired by the iconic tournaments. 𝙑𝙄𝙋 𝘿𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜: 𝙊𝙡𝙮𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙨 2024...🥂 Unless a drastic change appears before July this year, it seems those attending the Olympics in Paris will not be allowed to drink alcohol within the stadiums. Unless, that is, they have upgraded to a VIP status! And we're thinking of how beverage brands are going to play on this in their retail endeavours. Well, more importantly, we're in the midst of developing a playful VIP concept for the alcohol and no-alc brands that we work with! Because not everyone may be attending the Olympics, but plenty of us will be celebrating in our own manner. And there are endless opportunities for the classic summer tipples, and low-alc alternatives, to create some epic storytelling for summer VIPs. Is this the opportunity for Diageo to reclaim Pimms with some VIP marketing? Or perhaps some playful marketing for the Heineken 0.0 to transform what it means to socially drink throughout the olympics? For me, one of the most interesting and impressive marketing feats of the 21st century is Guinness becoming the #1 drank pint and a cultural phenomenon in the UK. This 20 min interview with Diageo UK Marketing Director Anna MacDonald will teach you a lot about modern brand management. Particularly like the insights around: ➡️ how they made Guinness a summer drink using key brand assets ➡️ the importance of protecting their customers (the trade) ➡️ how they maintain the brand's history but yet modernise it ➡️ and the idea that brand purpose doesn't need to be about 'saving the world'.
