Juneteenth On June 19, 1865 the Union Army arrived in Texas and notified Texas officials that slavery was officially over. Even though the institution of slavery had existed for millennia, our nation’s birth happened at a time that world consciousness finally began to see it as unacceptable —thank God! Imagine being born in a time when slavery was just a part of life? How we have grown as a planet. And each generation will continue to grow. Ending the institution of slavery in America came at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives, but it was the price that the supporters of slavery required. And it was the price anti-slavery soldiers paid…a necessary sacrifice for ending an evil institution that existed for thousands of years in world history at-large. #freedom #antislavery #EmancipationDay On this, I do have a theory about how our future decendants will judge first world countries for outsourcing to less developed nations for cheaper labor. Mark my words. Today’s world will be judged by tomorrow’s world for it.

In the United States, Memorial Day was originally known as Decoration Day. Approximately 620,000 men died in the war between the states. Decoration Day in the United States officially started after the U.S. Civil war of April 12, 1861 - April 9, 1865. It started with local groups after the war. In 1866, the state of New York began their official observance on May 5. New York suffered the largest casualty count with around 39,000 deaths during the war. In 1868, the first national recognition of decoration day was observed on May 30. This was the result of efforts by veteran groups of former union soldiers. The practice of remembering loved ones lost in the war was already being done in the American South, even before the end of the war in 1865. This typically involved a visit to the cemetery and the decorating of loved ones graves. In 1971, the U.S. Congress changed memorial day from May 30 to the last Monday in May. This created the three day weekend Americans now know and enjoy. In 1972, Time magazine noted that Memorial Day had devolved into "a three-day nationwide hootenanny that seems to have lost much of its original purpose". For those of us in the United States, this should be a special weekend. It's a time when we should take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by the many men and women in service to their neighbors, fellow citizens, and country. It shouldn't go without saying, "All gave some, but some gave all" and the price of freedom comes at a steep price. Every year on Memorial Day we remember those who paid the ultimate price. #freedom #sacrifice #honor #veterans

Even 1️⃣5️⃣years after his death, Michael Jackson can still teach us things (besides how to do the “Thriller” dance in old music videos). We learn that a Will must go through probate, which can potentially be a conflict-laden, lengthy, expensive, and public court process. 🧑⚖️But if you want your family to say “Beat It” to court, you can! Our latest article spills the tea on how Michael Jackson’s estate planning could have been smoother. ▶️ https://lnkd.in/gA23CUpu #compasslegalplanning #compasslegalplanningOK #estateplanning #willsandtrusts #OKestateplanningattorney #powerofattorney #healthcaredirectives #kidsprotectionplan #assetprotection #buildyourlegacy #familylegacy #outdooradventure #OKmom #OKdad #OKveterans #OKmilitary #guidingfamiliesforward

Episcopal chaplains for the armed forces and federal (?) ministries (?) check and balance with life on earth and living in the USA as non occupied citizens not get whipped around by radical islamics like respecting me, as someone who opposes armed robbery and other crimes for herself, and as an update instead of black and homo bashing and then robbing me like hell has taken over, as an idea, as I am a young woman and want nothing to with bashers or robbers from the military or the retail world in which their scummy mothers, wives, and sisters work who fill in for the fam from Poland which practices murder as a part of witchcraft like Afghanistan, Russia, and Algeria - there is no part of me that is opposing my life. Including practices of men ruled societies and women who practice murderous magic and hurtful witchcraft which is also animal abuse not to mention child abuse - their mean such harm it is painful and lethal to talk to a witch for 5 minutes - you feel like you are about to have a heart attack and they are turning your whole body to stone and you could be chatting about the most innocent thing doing anything distractedly. The 80th anniversary of D-Day has personal meaning for countless people around the world. For me, I think about my father's family fleeing the Nazi Holocaust; about my great-grandparents who died in the camps; about the soldiers who went to war to fight this monstrous, inhuman tyranny; about the citizens and communities who supported the war effort back home; and about the leaders who stood strong in the face of aggression. This day is not just about history. As surviving veterans and democratic leaders wisely remind us this week, the defence of democracy must be a preoccupation of the present. It's astonishing that any politician in any major democracy would dispute the urgency of giving #Ukraine the means to defend itself - or investing in defence and deterrence, or keeping our solemn commitments to our NATO allies. Or that some would admire, defend or collude with hostile foreign powers bent on destabilizing democracies. It's equally astonishing that any citizen of good character would consider electing authoritarian populist strongmen (yes, they are almost always male) who would tear down the institutions that allowed democracy to take root widely and thrive in the decades following the war we remember today. With democratic values under threat all over the world, this day matters not just to the millions of families touched by its history; it matters to billions more -- to every citizen of every democracy, everywhere. #lestweforget #democracy #DDay

Trigger Warning: This post discusses patriotism and respect for the national anthem. Being a combat veteran, July 4th is an emotional holiday for me because I understand what this day means. As we take a moment to celebrate Independence Day, I think of our national anthem and the meaning of standing during the song. This song will be played multiple times today, all over America at various different events. My initial thought included: Freedom isn’t free, and combat veterans know this all too well. We miss countless holidays and birthdays, sacrificing our time and sometimes life for the country so others can live free. De oppresso liber! Therefore, my opinions below are based on many reason including being a combat veteran who has lost many friends to war and views the flag and our anthem as a symbol of our freedom and unity. If someone wants to take a knee, they have that right, but I also have the right to respectfully disagree and here’s why. 1. Respect for Sacrifice: Standing and placing a hand over your heart or saluting is a sign of respect for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. 2. Unity Over Division: We stand for the flag to focus on what unites us as Americans, not what divides us. 3. Honoring Democracy: We stand not to pledge allegiance to a president but to honor the reality that we have an elected leader and not a lifetime king. 4. Principle of Justice: We salute the principle of justice, despite our system’s imperfections. It is better than many alternatives around the world. 5. Respect for the Country: If you don’t respect the country, try living elsewhere and see how it compares. I do not believe the national anthem is the time to push civil rights, anti-conscription, anti-war, anti-nationalism, or religious reservations. It’s a moment to honor our nation and those who defend it. I am passionate. 💖 I am weird. 🌀 I am me. 🦋 Hi, 👋I am Jax, a Cyber professional and combat veteran. 👉Follow me and hit the bell 🛎️ notification above ☝️to be notified when I post valuable content. ❤️ #Patriotism #Veterans #NationalAnthem #Respect #Unity
