In the tapestry of dreams, there are no limitations to resources or design. You are at liberty to weave whatever comes to your mind. The only limitation you have is your imagination. If you cannot see it through your imagination or dream, it will never become a possibility. Break your limits and tap inspiration from around you. Take, for example, Wangari Maathai, whose dream of a greener Africa led to the founding of the Green Belt Movement, planting millions of trees, and advocating for environmental conservation. Or consider Chinua Achebe, whose dream of telling authentic African stories in literature gave us the masterpiece "Things Fall Apart," challenging and reshaping the narrative of African literature. In the spirit of innovation, look to Mo Ibrahim, whose dream of transforming Africa through technology materialized in the creation of Celtel, bringing mobile telecommunications to millions across the continent. These are just a few examples of how extraordinary dreams have the power to change lives and leave a lasting legacy. So, I encourage you to embrace your unique dreams—those that reflect your culture, heritage, and the spirit of resilience. I am rooting for you.

At a time of immense polarisation on just about every political issue, how can we rise above culture wars and come together to tackle unifying issues? How can we make 'culture peace'? From May 3rd to 31st The Climate Majority Project will be at the Bergerac Practice Hub hosting events on just this topic. I will be there for the first few days. We’ll reflect on how our (sub-)cultures’ unquestionable, and even sacred beliefs, and our taboos come into conflict. We will work on ways of diffusing and getting past this conflict as well. We will practice holding the tension between two facts: No single way of looking at things is right, however, some views are more useful than others for some things. Honoring Native American Heritage Month, and in respect for Native Peoples, this digital map can help you understand and start to engage with the history of the land where you live and work. For example, when I looked up where I live, it includes the Ohlone people, including the Tamien Nation, Muwekma, and Ramaytush. As the website says, “The land itself is sacred, and it is not easy to draw lines that divide it up into chunks that delineate who “owns” different parts of land. In reality, we know that the land is not something to be exploited and “owned”, but something to be honoured and treasured.” This is such an important idea and a heritage we can all learn from. About the importance of this work, they add, “... while we make a strong effort to teach about colonialism and to bring forth Indigenous narratives, we also strive to integrate what is sometimes called an ‘Indigenous way of knowing’ when it comes to the importance and sacredness of land in our daily lives. We hope to inspire people to gain a better understanding of themselves, their ancestors, and the world they live in, so that we can all move forward into a better future.” In this way, honoring Native American heritage is also honoring our relationship to the land where we are and its importance to Native people. I thank the team who put together this resource and ongoingly teach us ways to be better stewards of the earth.
