Russia may boost LNG production in Sakhalin to 15 mln metric tons The project stipulates construction of a LNG plant in the Russian Far East with the capacity of 6.2 mln metric tons per year, a seaport for LNG shipments and associated gas transport infrastructure Russia can scale up liquefied natural gas (LNG) production in Sakhalin from eleven million metric tons in 2023 to fifteen million metric tons in 2030 by using the resource base of the Sakhalin-1 project, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters. "We have the announced Sakhalin-1 projects. This is in plans; nobody gave up such plans," Novak said. Earlier reports said that implementation of the Far Eastern LNG project is planned for the purpose of gas monetization within the Sakhalin-1 production sharing agreement.
