The Adirondack Health Foundation recently launched the Helping Hands and Hearts program and has received its first gifts. A patient’s family made a gift to oncology in honor of Dr. David Mastrianni, Dr. Emily Szczech, and Breast Care Navigator Margaret Sorensen. The Foundation’s Emily Moulton met with the three recipients to present them with pins recognizing and congratulating them for their outstanding care, which resulted in this gift. Another patient made a donation in honor of Physical Therapist Makenzie Grevelding. The Helping Hands and Hearts program helps recognize a specific employee or employees or a whole department, and possibly facilitates a donation to the Adirondack Health Foundation. Donations to the Helping Hands and Hearts program can be made by calling the Adirondack Health Foundation at 518-897-2370. Did you know that April is National Donate Life Month? 💙 💚 💙 💚 Every nine minutes, someone is added to the transplant waiting list, while more than 100,000 people in the US are in need for a transplant. In Texas, there is a greater need for organ donation among communities of color, with more than 40% of people on the transplant waiting list being Hispanic. Organ donation can be a sensitive topic, but it's crucial to realize the immense impact your decision can have on others. By registering as an organ donor, you can help address the scarcity of organs and be a hero to those in need of life-saving transplants. Your selfless act can save up to eight lives. Don't wait to make your wishes known to your family members. Time is of the essence, and coordination between the donor's family, hospital staff, and organ specialists is essential to manage the entire process. April is National Donate Life Month. Established in 2003 by Donate Life America and its partnering organizations, National Donate Life Month helps raise awareness about donation, encourages Americans to register as organ, eye, and tissue donors and honors those who have saved lives through the gift of donation. The number of patients waiting for organs changes every day. As of March 2024, the number of patients on the national transplant waiting list was more than 103,000, and every ten minutes, another person is added to the list. In fact, the number of patients who need a lifesaving transplant goes up faster than the number of available organs. By saying "yes" to being an organ donor, you are giving more hope for patients on the waiting list! We will be sharing more helpful information and statistics through the month of April and beyond. If you are interested in saving lives by becoming an organ donor, visit https://lnkd.in/eHwJr7c6 for answers to common questions and more. #DonateLifeMonth #DonorsAreSuperstars #STBHChicago

"Donating blood is a small act of kindness that can make a big difference in someone's life." Blood donation is crucial because it saves lives. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. Each donation can help multiple patients, as blood can be separated into its components: red cells, platelets, and plasma. Regular donations ensure a stable supply of blood, ready for emergencies and routine medical needs, thus contributing significantly to public health. #BloodDonation #SaveLives #GiveBlood #DonateBlood #BloodDonors #BeAHero #LifeSaver #CommunitySupport #Healthcare #BloodDrive #BloodSupply #BloodTransfusion #PublicHealth #MedicalCare #HealthMatters #SupportLife #NonProfit #Charity #Volunteering #HealthAwareness #MakeADifference #GiveBack #HumanityFirst #EmergencyCare #LifeSaving #DonateToday #DHASuffaUniversity DHA Suffa University The Indus Hospital

When companies engage authentically with non-profit organizations it can be a real win-win. What One Lambda | A Thermo Fisher Scientific Brand and Ava Kaufman of Ava's Heart have in common are set of important values: caring for for patients and an equitable transplant system. This campaign lets OneLamda share their values. In this video we get insight not into WHAT they do, but WHY they do it. Sharing WHY helps a company build a relationship with their audience. Having a deep connection to a non-profit can also give a company access to quality content, the key to all good communication, while giving the non-profit much needed attention and funding.
Did you know that to receive a life-saving transplant, a patient must prove they have a place to stay near the transplant hospital, often for months at a time? Many patients, like Marcus Roberts, end up having to travel hundreds of miles to their nearest transplant center, making this requirement an incredible – and sometimes insurmountable – financial burden. As an extension of our commitment to providing innovative transplant diagnostics that enable our customers to improve patient lives, we’re proud to support Ava's Heart, a non-profit charitable organization that provides critically needed pre- and post-transplant housing assistance to patients who are unable to access or afford it. Without help from Ava’s Heart, Marcus and many others like him might not have been able to receive their second chance at life. Thousands of people like Marcus and Ava are counting on you. Visit thermofisher.com/marcus to learn more about how you can help give the gift of life.
