Today, the European Environment Agency (EEA) publishes a package that I had the pleasure to coordinate over the past few months ▶ https://lnkd.in/dn4MxxcV. ✅ The first publication assesses #antimicrobial pollution from livestock farming and aquaculture and reviews progress in reducing antimicrobial use in Europe. Our key message: in order to prevent the release of antimicrobials used in food-producing animals into the environment (which can contribute to #AntimicrobialResistance), we need to improve environmental monitoring and continue to reduce the need to use antimicrobials in animal food production systems. ✅ The second publication is the result of the efforts of many colleagues across the EEA, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the European Chemicals Agency, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the European Medicines Agency: the first-ever joint #OneHealth framework for action, which will help our EU agencies further strengthen their collaboration and support the implementation of the One Health approach in Europe. The launch of the framework is also supported by a joint video message of our five Executive Directors, including the EEA's Leena Yla-Mononen ▶ https://lnkd.in/dES5J7fn. PS: To accompany the package, we have also created a #OneHealth info page on our website ▶ https://lnkd.in/d8wUXXd2. EU Environment and Climate | EU Health and Food Safety

Quick numbers: According to the FAO, aquaculture has grown by an impressive 54% since 2011, with another 35% expected by 2023. This increase was driven by rising seafood demand while fighting global malnutrition and food insecurity front on. One of the most promising trends is in the Asia-Pacific region, where output is expected to increase while demand for high-quality ingredients rises. Animal and marine proteins and lipids are critical essentials in ensuring the sustainability of aquaculture. #aquaculture #sustainability #foodsecurity #globalimpact #proteins #feedindustry #feedmill

True or false: Aquaculture provides more than half of the world’s fish for human consumption? 🐟 True! The growth in the sector has driven global fisheries and aquaculture production to a record high. 📈 An essential source of aquatic food, these fish are rich in protein and micronutrients. But with increasing feed costs, growth in production is expected to slow slightly in the next decade. Optimising fish nutrition and improving feed formulation can help you to make more from less – unlocking nutrient potential, aiding metabolism and maximising energy utilisation. ⚡ Discover the variety of aqua offerings on our website. #Aqua #Aquaculture #FishFeed #FishNutrition

The global demand for seafood has been steadily increasing over the years, and with it comes the need for sustainable and efficient methods of aquaculture. One promising solution that has gained attention in recent years is the use of Schizochytrium as a source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an essential nutrient for human health. HSF Biotech produces Schizochytrium DHA Power represents a significant breakthrough in the field of aquaculture. By providing a sustainable and environmentally friendly source of DHA, it has the potential to improve the nutritional value of farmed fish, enhance the overall health and well-being of aquatic animals, and reduce the environmental impact of aquaculture. #dha #animalhealth #animalnutrition #aquaculture #powders #feed #enviromentallyfriendly
