Why we should put Food Safety regulations in India under private hands?? Today food safety compliance is crucial in the Indian hotel industry due to rising public health concerns and the increasing scrutiny from consumers on social media. Recent incidents, such as reports of contaminated food items and unsanitary kitchen practices, have gone viral, resulting in significant brand damage and consumer distrust. For instance, incidents involving foodborne illnesses linked to popular restaurants have ignited debates on hygiene standards, leading to calls for stricter regulations. In a landscape where information spreads rapidly, maintaining high food safety standards not only protects public health but also preserves the reputation of the entire food industry. It is essential for hotels and restaurants to prioritize compliance to restore consumer confidence and ensure a safe dining experience for all. #foodsafety #food #foodhygiene #foodindustry

In honor of World Food Safety Day 🥗🥙🥦 on 7th June, I’m pleased to share insights from my recent interactions with Ms. Pritee Chaudhary, IRS, Regional Director, West Region, Mumbai, at the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India #FSSAI. This year's theme, "Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected," underscores the #critical role of food safety. Ms. Chaudhary highlighted the vital connection between safe food and better health, emphasizing the need to #prevent foodborne illnesses. Shockingly, one in ten people fall ill from contaminated food each year, with over 200 diseases linked to #unsafe food. Alarmingly, 40 percent of this burden affects #children under five. Food safety incidents, from mild to severe can arise from accidents, inadequate controls, food fraud, or natural events, posing significant #healthrisks. Ensuring food safety requires efforts from #policymakers, #foodauthorities, #farmers and food #businesses with #consumers also playing a crucial role. By prioritizing food safety, we #safeguard our health and #communities. Let’s join the #movement on World Food Safety Day and commit to practices that ensure Safe Food, Better Health for All. #WorldFoodSafetyDay #SafeFoodBetterHealth #FoodSafety #HealthyEating #FoodSafetyFirst #FoodSafetyMatters #PrepareForTheUnexpected #PreventFoodborneIllness #SafeFood #FoodSafetyAwareness #HealthyFood #GlobalHealth #FoodSafety2024 #Health #Wellness #PreventiveHealth #OneHealth World Health Organization

Today, on World Food Safety Day, we spotlight the critical importance of food safety. This year's theme is "Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected." As per the World Health Organization, "this year’s theme underlines the importance of being prepared for food safety incidents, no matter how mild or severe they can be". In India, food safety faces significant challenges, particularly due to food #adulteration. Common adulterants in everyday products, like milk, spices, oil, and even in fruits & vegetables, pose serious #health risks. As part of this effort, I attended an insightful workshop organized by ITCFSAN on "Emerging Food Safety Incidents- Preparedness for Future Challenges". The experts Sasikanth Sarangam Sir, Asha Sridhar Mam and Dr. S S Raghav Sir (Director of NFL JNPT Mumbai) discussed the analysis of recent Food Safety Incidents and its future challenges, highlighting the critical need for a collaborative approach involving government agencies, food producers, and consumers to create a safer food environment. World Food Safety Day reminds us that food safety is a shared responsibility. By prioritizing food safety, we can prevent foodborne illnesses, protect public health, and boost consumer confidence in the food supply. In India, organizations like the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (fssai india) are playing a pivotal role in this mission by setting stringent safety standards and conducting widespread awareness campaigns. Let’s work together to ensure every meal is safe and healthy. #worldfoodsafety #foodsafety #fssai #healthrisks #healthyfood
