Healthcare Hurdles: Insights from Clinicians and Patients on Access and Equity. Ensuring equitable access to healthcare services is paramount. Patients face significant barriers to accessing care, ranging from financial constraints to geographical limitations. Staffing shortages and the emotional toll of providing care amidst the ongoing chaos result in longer wait times for appointments, rushed consultations, and reduced availability of essential services. Patients with chronic conditions often face numerous obstacles in accessing the care they need. Healthcare policy decisions play a significant role in shaping individuals' ability to obtain timely and affordable care. As clinicians, we have a responsibility to advocate for policies that prioritize patient access, affordability, and equity, ensuring that all individuals can access the care they need, when they need it. Let's work together to overcome these challenges and ensure that everyone has access to quality healthcare. #healthcareaccess #equity #chronicdiseasemanagement #mentalhealthawareness #healthcarepolicy #healthcaretechnology

The outcomes from our recent general election survey have unveiled significant obstacles in healthcare access, echoing the urgent need to address the healthcare crisis and enhance patients' ability to receive necessary services. Around 30% of respondents encountered difficulties in accessing GP appointments. Patients wanted improved ownership and accessibility of medical records, with 31% saying they wanted full control over their health information. These findings emphasise how important patient partnership and good communication are in a health service that is struggling with staffing and underfunding. Many elements of partnership are low-cost and easy to implement. #PatientAccess

Top thing on my mind this afternoon: This morning I posted an article regarding the costs hospitals charge to private healthcare. In short, it's depressing. However, with tough news comes innovation. That's why this article about advanced primary care caught my attention. I'll let you read through it as it explains what advanced primary care is but, with anything, it's something that is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It is, however, something to be cognizant of as it may be a trend we see growing within healthcare. https://lnkd.in/dFYWPVnD

Fee schedules must be public information—for patients and providers alike. Healthcare costs hidden behind a wall of secrecy leave patients guessing and limit providers' ability to make informed partnership decisions. This lack of transparency isn’t just inconvenient; it’s unethical. Imagine the impact of knowing exactly what services will cost before an appointment or procedure. Publicly accessible fee schedules empower patients to make informed choices and help providers align with organizations that value transparency and fairness. It’s about creating trust, improving competition, and building a more equitable healthcare system. We need to demand change. We need to lobby for policies that make fee schedules accessible to everyone involved. #HealthcareTransparency #DemandChange #PublicPolicy #PatientEmpowerment #ProviderEmpowerment
