2019: Rejected by virtually all global internship programs. (Mitacs Canada, DAAD Germany, NTU Singapore, and many more) 2021: Did internships with a Dubai-based startup and a US-based research group. Even though I had high grades and projects, I could not get through any competitive summer internship program during my bachelor's. I was disappointed. But, I did not give up on my goal of gaining international experience as an undergrad. This is what I did when conventional routes closed for me: - Identified potential contacts: Used LinkedIn search, company websites, and alum databases. - Understood my strengths: 2-3 core skills/ experiences that helped me build my story. - Tailored my email: Every email was unique to the recipient. High effort = high reward. There's always a way if you're hungry enough :) #internships #careers #research --- That's me facing my fear of heights by ziplining in the UAE. I share my tips and insights on scholarships, internships, and other stuff — let's connect!

A really important story for people who aspire for more. Its also necessary to highlight how time consuming tailoring your emails and LinkedIn messages is. Its high effort, and it easily takes more than an hour to tailor one email or message, complete with research about the person, the opportunity, and the company. And you may not even hear back. Patience is key to growth. Thanks for talking about this Aditya.
