Have you heard the modern myth that High-Speed GigE Vision above 5GigE isn’t possible or reliable with more than 1-2 cameras until RDMA arrives with GigE Vision 3.0 - hopefully in 2025? Well, let’s just say I’m getting used to hearing this from (new) customers who’ve been told by some of our beloved competitors, especially those favoring other interfaces or sticking to the high CPU load approach with traditional GigE Vision setups. 😉 But I have to admit, when even major MV software suppliers echoed this during presentations at #VisionSTR, it did raise an eyebrow. The understanding of GigE Vision - and especially how GVSP can be optimized - could definitely use a tune-up. Case in point: just 50 meters from the podium at the VISION Show in Stuttgart, we were running more than five demos proving the opposite! One of our setups featured 36x 10GigE 12MP cameras, routed through a single switch into a single workstation, performing real-time 4D reconstruction with minimal CPU load using GPU Direct - and of course, zero frame drops. And that’s just one example. Other multi-camera demos with 8x 25GigE cameras involved four GPUs across two workstations thanks to our FlexTrans & FlexProc technology. So, if you’ve heard from your camera or software provider that only RDMA will make GigE Vision viable above 5GigE or for multi-camera applications, let’s talk. We’ve been solving these challenges for years and would be happy to help you streamline your application setup. And yes, we’re excited about RDMA support coming with GigE Vision 3.0 in 2025, but we’re also advancing “Optimized GigE Vision + GVSP.” Right now, we’re fully equipped with GPU Direct on both Windows and Linux and have been supporting Multi-Cast for some time.
