Huge news!   (Read here: https://lnkd.in/gxK-VNj4) This announcement highlights how food companies like Campbell's and KIND are increasingly turning to partnerships and government support to boost regenerative agriculture within their supply chains. Both companies are working with the USDA and other organizations to promote sustainable practices that improve soil health, reduce water usage, and enhance resilience among key suppliers, especially those affected by climate change.   Lundberg Family Farms is a pioneer in this space, especially in sustainable rice farming. Through regenerative techniques like crop rotation, reduced tillage, and the preservation of wetland ecosystems, Lundberg is building resilient, biodiverse farming systems that improve soil health and water quality. By integrating rice paddies with natural habitats for waterfowl and microorganisms, Lundberg sets a high standard, influencing other rice and grain producers to adopt more sustainable practices.   These initiatives are part of a broader movement within the food industry, where major companies are committing to sustainable sourcing and leveraging government partnerships to support environmental goals. Both Campbell and Kind have ambitious targets: Campbell aims to cut water usage, while Kind intends to source 100% of its almonds from regenerative farms by 2030. This industry-wide push is crucial as companies respond to climate change and strengthen their supply chains for the future.   PS. The Roadblock to a Sustainable Food Future: Funding and Financing Regenerative Agriculture The environmental footprint of global agriculture is a well-established concern. As awareness grows, regenerative agriculture is recognized as a solution to address the food system's ecological, resilience, and nutritional issues. Yet, despite this understanding, widespread adoption of regenerative practices remains elusive. To date only 15% of global cropland has transitioned to regenerative agriculture. The challenge lies in making the transition bigger and faster. The Food and Land Use Coalition estimates that to revolutionize the global food system, that an additional $300 billion per year is required by 2030. Securing that kind of money won’t be easy, hindering the transition to regenerative agriculture and limiting our ability to create a more sustainable food future. New models and more innovative financing strategies are needed.

🌱 Ardo Joins Forces with Unilever, Jumbo and Agrifirm for Sustainable Agriculture project! 🌱 Unilever, Jumbo, Agrifirm, and Ardo have teamed up to launch 'Het Wortel Collectief' (the carrot collective) in the Netherlands, focusing on implementing regenerative practices in carrot farming. This initiative is a significant step towards ensuring a sustainable future for our agriculture. 🌿 Why It Matters: Soil Health: By adopting non-tillage methods, planting cover crops, and using organic fertilizers, we aim to improve soil health and reduce erosion. Sustainability: Our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions, optimize water usage, and promote biodiversity, creating a resilient food system for future generations. Collaboration: This project brings together farmers, suppliers, and partners to restore and protect our precious farmland. 🚜 First Steps: 30 Hectares: We are implementing regenerative practices on 30 hectares of farmland dedicated to carrot crops. Harvest: The first regenerative carrots are available in Jumbo stores from mid-June, with more to be included in Unilever products later this year. 🔍 Looking Ahead: Through this collaboration, we are sharing valuable knowledge and innovative practices to benefit the entire agricultural community.
