Akademos has some exciting news to share !! But before that will be good to look at "The value of working with recent graduates and current students" Lots of people can offer tutoring and admissions advice, but talking to those who have been through the application process itself recently is totally invaluable. When it comes to university admissions, there’s little that can compare to first-hand, recent experience of applying – successfully – to the course or institution that a would-be student is aiming for. A lot can hinge on the small things that might otherwise go unnoticed in an application by someone without this experience: a specific book mentioned in a personal statement, for example, or the choice of course or college if applying to a collegiate university. What do you think about matching students to their potential mentors? 🙂 #akademos #universitystudents #highereducation #ukeducation #educationsystem #parentsupport #students #sixthform

Scholarship Coach helping families who don't qualify for financial aid or FAFSA avoid loans and graduate college debt-free.
📝📝📝 Your student only needs these 3 essays to win lots of scholarships... I'm living proof. One essay I wrote, I submitted for around 20 scholarships...and won about $50,000! The question is, what are the most common prompts for scholarships? After seeing prompts for thousands of scholarships, I've boiled it down to the top 3 topics your student needs to answer: 1️⃣ What are your career and academic goals? 2️⃣ What is a challenge or a hardship you've overcome and how did you grow from it? 3️⃣ How have you impacted the community or given back? OR What's an extracurricular activity that has mattered to you? And honestly, if you have those base three essays written, you will have answers ready to go for most scholarship contests out there. Besides, scholarship essays are far more fun than anything your student will write in school! I would encourage you to take liberty with it. Be conversational, be fun, use creative format. The college application process can be daunting, filled with pressure and uncertainty. Navigating through the maze of information and advice can be overwhelming, especially when you encounter conflicting and confusing claims. To help you separate fact from fiction, let's debunk a common myth. Is having a perfect GPA the only way to college? Fact is, while academics are important, colleges consider a holistic picture of an applicant. A strong GPA is definitely beneficial, but a single B won't necessarily doom your chances. Demonstrating a consistent academic record, challenging yourself with rigorous coursework, and showcasing your passion for learning are far more impactful. You don't have to struggle through the college application process alone. We help you navigate with ease! Applying to the University of Southern California (USC) is a prospect that most incoming college students consider. According to their official website, USC received 80,808 applications for the academic year 2023-2024. The total number of admitted students was 8,094. Admissions season could be very competitive, and one important part of the application process is completing USC’s short answer questions, which are part of the USC application questions. These questions allow the admissions team to gain further insight into who you are beyond your academic records and extracurricular achievements. #uscshortanswerquestions #shortanswerquestions #usc #collegeadmissions #admissionsight #princeton #highschool #harvard #highschoolstudents #caltech #students #college #university #undergrad #education #ivyleague #admissions #academics #stanford #yale #mit #columbia #cornell #brown #upenn #uchicago

Breaking Through the Ivy: The Challenges of Gaining Admission to Elite Universities Getting into an Ivy League school is often portrayed as the pinnacle of academic achievement, a golden ticket to success. But for many, this prestigious goal is not just difficult—it’s dauntingly so. The Ivy League schools—Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, Brown, and Cornell—are renowned not just for their rigorous academics, but for their hyper-competitive admissions processes. So, what makes getting into these elite institutions such a formidable challenge? 1. The Sky-High Selectivity One of the most striking features of Ivy League admissions is their extreme selectivity. For the 2023-2024 academic year, Harvard’s acceptance rate was just 4.6%, and Yale’s was 4.5%. This means that for every 100 students who apply, fewer than five will be admitted. This level of selectivity means that even exceptional students with stellar grades, high test scores, and impressive extracurriculars might still face rejection. 2. Academic Excellence Isn’t Enough While academic prowess is crucial, it’s no longer the only factor in Ivy League admissions. Applicants need to demonstrate not only top grades and standardized test scores but also standout achievements, leadership experiences, and unique talents. The competition is so fierce that many candidates with perfect GPAs and SAT/ACT scores find themselves on the outside looking in. 3. Holistic Review Process Ivy League schools employ a holistic review process, which means they consider the whole applicant, not just their academic record. This includes extracurricular involvement, essays, recommendation letters, and personal background. The goal is to build a diverse and dynamic student body, but it also means that each application is evaluated in the context of a complex and subjective set of criteria. This can make the process feel unpredictable and opaque to applicants and their families. 4. Legacy and Institutional Priorities For many Ivy League schools, legacy admissions—where preference is given to applicants who are children of alumni—play a role in the admissions process. While not the sole factor, legacy status can influence decisions and make the process even more competitive for non-legacy applicants. Additionally, each Ivy League school has its own institutional priorities, which can affect admissions decisions. For example, some schools might prioritize candidates from underrepresented backgrounds or those who bring a particular skill set or perspective to the campus community.
