This was such a thoughtful and inspiring conversation about the value of customer education in a SaaS space! Customer Ed is not “just training”. When stratigically aligned with other customer success teams and the broader business goals and KPIs, CE efforts can drive product adoption, decrease support cases, and help customers achieve value realization faster. Organizations have got to stop measuring the impact of CE based solely on output over impact. Why is Customer Education So SaaS-Centric? I've been pondering the disproportionate focus of the customer education sector on SaaS, particularly SaaS software. While the subscription model necessitates customer success to prevent churn, it begs the question: what about other industries? Surely, customer education could yield immense benefits across various sectors. Take, for instance, my experience with purchasing a car last year. During a recent trip, I realized I wasn't fully acquainted with the myriad technical features of the vehicle. Despite having access to manuals and online resources, there's a gap in understanding, particularly concerning features like adaptive cruise control. This underscores the potential for comprehensive customer education initiatives, not only for safety but also for fostering brand loyalty and awareness.
