Charles Robert Darwin introduced the theory of natural selection as a fundamental mechanism within the broader framework of evolution. Although he acknowledged its importance in human evolution, he did not isolate it as the sole driving force behind human development. Darwin’s theory of natural selection was intended to be a universal principle applicable to all species, including humans. This perspective suggested that humans, like other species, shared common ancestors and were governed by the principles of natural selection. Our knowledge of the hamlet of Nazareth, not mentioned in any early non-Christian textual sources, has grown exponentially over the past few decades. In this video I survey what we now know and how it might shed light on our understanding of Jesus and his family--from his childhood growing up into his early adulthood. The overall picture is quite remarkable, in that we know more and more of Galilee and the life in contemporary villages of the time. https://lnkd.in/e2FwcDyn

In ancient Greece and Rome, goddesses played significant roles both in mythology and in daily life. These goddesses were central figures in religious practices, mythological stories, and cultural rituals. Athena: Goddess of wisdom, war strategy, and crafts. She was a protector of cities, most notably Athens, and was revered for her intelligence and strategic warfare. Aphrodite: Goddess of love, beauty, and desire. She was associated with the power of attraction and relationships. Hera: Queen of the gods, goddess of marriage and family. She was the wife of Zeus and often depicted as a protector of married women. Artemis: Goddess of the hunt, wilderness, and childbirth. She was a protector of young women and a symbol of chastity and independence. Demeter: Goddess of agriculture, fertility, and the harvest. She was deeply connected to the life cycle of crops and the changing seasons. #AncientGreece #AncientRome #GreekMythology #RomanMythology #Goddesses #Mythology #History #ClassicalStudies #AncientHistory #CulturalHistory #Athena #Aphrodite #Hera #Artemis #Demeter #WomenInHistory #ReligiousStudies #MythologicalFigures #theology #HouseofLords

The mysterious rituals known as the Eleusinian Mysteries formed the basis of the spiritual practices of the ancient Greeks, fusing the stories of Demeter and Persephone with the fundamental elements of human life. These complex rites took place in the village of Eleusis, not far from the center of Athens’ culture, and were based on the ideas of the cyclical nature of life and the journey of the human soul. Through Christianity and contemporary cult movements, these secrets have continued to have an impact on the modern world. (Full article continued in comments.) #ancientgreece #greekmythology #cults
