I love Cuphead. My kids? They love it too but you know what my youngest loved even more? The Cuphead Show on Netflix. This was a fantastic transmedia extension and here comes what could be the biggest transmedia event yet - a Minecraft animated series on Netflix. Here's why I think this is such an important moment: 🎑 Minecraft is the ultimate sandbox - giving players total control and freedom to create their own worlds - and their own stories. There's been spin-offs like Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends but moving into the linear story-telling craft will be a telling moment for how Minecraft can grow in the future. 🎮 Netflix is trying a variety of tactics to get more entrenched as THE streamer for video gamers. They're making games but content like this keeps subscribers hooked. ⏳ This sort of content could send kids watching Minecraft on Netflix to ask their parents to play Minecraft or could send kids back to Minecraft when they've maybe moved on to other games. If this becomes a meaningful piece of the Minecraft flywheel, it's going to be a huge feather in the transmedia cap.
