3D Fashion Design Expert / Guiding Brands How To Implement 3D in the Product Development Process / In Love with Digital Fashion for a Sustainable Future
Who is 💫 The Early Adopter 💫 in your team – the Fashion Designer or the Pattern Maker? The more I talk 3D implementation with fashion brands, the more I hear them saying the same thing. It’s the pattern makers who drive the 3D digitalisation at the company. If the brand is not fast enough implementing 3D, the pattern makers often take private CLO lessons, outside office hours. They are quickly convinced the new technology is doing magic in their working process. But. Their fashion designers don’t want to learn the new tool. The reason to this is often said to be the fear of not being able to touch the garment. To lose creativity and control. I don't get that. I think 3D makes me more creative and gives me more control. 💫 I get a better first view of my design at an early stage. 💫 I know I’ve communicated my idea correctly to the pattern maker when we evaluate the design and fit together. 💫 If a sample is needed, it will be requested. When it arrives back it’s 100% more likely to match my initial idea, compared to a flat, disproportional illustrator sketch. So, I don’t understand the fear. Do you have any ideas why designers react like this? Are you a patternmaker and need help to convince your team? Reach out and I’ll be your ally. Below: 3D sketch for production of a polo shirt.

Finally someone is saying that most fashion brands have a hard time using 3D for design, product development and sales. Hannah, thank you very much! Strange because companies that already use 3D are very successful with it, and you think it should become a sure-fire success. But unfortunately that's not the case. I know from experience that 3D visualization is technically and artistically very demanding, complex and therefore expensive. This means that a classic fashion designer does not become a 3D designer/artist on the side. It's great luck that many people still manage to use their free time for this through commitment, curiosity and passion and thus find their way into 3D. With our SmartStyler, for example, we are building a solution with which we are trying to attract 2D fashion designers so that they can use 3D without any 3D knowledge. But here too we have to say clearly that creating the basic 3D model in programs like CLO 3D remains. In the end, there are not 1-2 tools that can cover the entire digital 3D workflow from patterns to production to sales, which still looks complex, time-consuming and expensive for those responsible. Perhaps the topic of 3D can be further advanced through community action?

QA Automation Lead | DEI Advocate | Print Design • Logo Digitising | Embroidery and Printing Company
Everyday is a learning day in building a company, and the main focus this week is improving my sales technique and also implementing procedures that makes the whole end to end process easier for all parties involved. What we've learnt and seems to come up frequently is getting the requirements right. If we get it right at this stage, then as with software, it's cheaper and expectations are easier to manage. The important and common questions that need answering are What products do you need? - If you need hoodies, sweatshirts, laptop bags, aprons or health tunics, we can source it and print or embroider on it. Straight forward. Colour - This can be important as trying to source a multi coloured item with unique design might be harder to find than a plain black hoodie. What is its intended purpose - There are a wide range of products out there of various thickness (GSM) and quality. We strive for quality always (hey, it's my thing). But, a t-shirt for a Tough Mudder is going to be different than a T-shirt/Polo needed for a restaurant or construction. Whether you want it embroidered or printed. - This one depends on several factors. While Embroidery generally looks better and feels better, it all depends on what you want on the actual garment. If the text is too small, then printing will be a better option as it will be crisper and easier to read. If the logo is very complex colour wise, then printing (direct to film) is a good option. If the design/logo is more defined (not too much of a gradient), then embroidering is a great option. Also embroidery in the mind of others, has a perceived benefit of being higher quality. Embroidery also tends to last longer but with good quality transfers, prints do last a long time. Ultimately, this is the conversion that you need to have. For individuals that want to have their logo printed, then the requirements that we need are: The image can be PNG, but it would be better if it was vector based (SVG) It needs to be a minimum of 300 dpi An added bonus is if you know the measurements of the size of the logo, then that would be a huge benefit. Why would you want to get promotional items or workwear branded? * It reduces the worry of trying to find unique outfits for every day of the working week * We offer various bundles, which is beneficial for you as we have made it convenient for you to choose the garments needed for your organisation. You don't have to hunt around trying to find garments that you need) * Branded workwear looks professional and as they say, if you feel good, you look good. Drop me a message if you are interested in having branded promotional items and garments. As we approach Xmas, we can make your uniform or garment special with your Xmas message. As usual, I want to network with people in various industries, so drop me a message. I don't bite. #workwear #smallbusiness #branding #marketing #hospitality #healthcare #tech

Over saturating the apparel design team, but still expect uniqueness is a mistake I am seeing from sportswear brands in 2024. I hear apparel designers being asked to carry out task like: ↳ Modify size specifications. ↳ Create realistic 3D models. ↳ Update digital patterns files. ↳ Provide final garment construction details. ↳ Find and source the latest performance fabric. ↳ Be up to date on the lates sustainable fabric regs. These tasks are full time jobs in themselves and should be carried out by specific professionals: ↳ Garment technologies, ↳ Pattern Makers, ↳ 3D Designer, ↳ Fabric Technicians. Brand leaders ➔ you can not expect unique design solutions if your design team is bogged down doing the role of another specialist. ✌️ ---- Want to know the simplest way to hire specialist to free up your design team? ➔ Hire specialist freelancers 👋 as a flexible staffing options! ---- 𝐒𝐚𝐦 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧 Freelance Sportswear Designer | I help brands to build and create their sportswear range. #Sportswear #Appareldesign #Freelancedesigner #designteam
